The former NFL quarterback Cam Newton came under a lot of fire recently. A video of his altercation with multiple people at a 7 v 7 charity tournament for school kids went viral. And now Newton has come out apologizing while staying on his high ground.

Since the video of his fight at the event went viral, multiple personalities within the sport have called him out. Even though the former Carolina Panthers’ QB apologized wholeheartedly, he did so without playing the victim card!

With a ton of pressure on him, everyone in the sport has questioned Newton’s behavior. His choices on that eventful day are being criticized and even then, the former Heisman Trophy winner is looking to brace it all.

“I could easily say damn like I can play the victim and I’m not going to do that. I’m going hold myself to that same standard”, said Newton in clarification. Newton addressed the entire event and apologized on his podcast ‘4th & 1’.

“I let my emotions get the best of me, and it should not have been called for. Simple.”, said Newton apologizing to the entire football world. However, many consider him lucky to come out unscathed, including his girlfriend!

Things could have gone bad for Newton

In the viral video, the 34-year-old could be seen engaged in a scruffle against two to three people. Before the security arrived to contain the mayhem, things could’ve gotten out of hand for the former New England Patriots QB.

“What if they would have broken your jaw, what if they would have knocked you in a coma”, Newton’s girlfriend said to him after the incident. And she is completely right, as things could’ve turned out very poorly for the soon-to-be father Newton. Though, he can take pride in the fact, that things worked out for him and he hasn’t labeled himself as a victim.
