For months, Jordan Love is waiting for a new contract. The Packers star made a deal during the 2023 off-season that would see him being paid a mere $11 million this upcoming season. Since that is a rather low rate for a starting QB, the 25-year-old had hoped for a new negotiation. Although that seems to be taking longer than expected, it has not broken the athlete’s spirit.

In a recent interview with the Wisconsin State Journal, Love showed high hopes for the upcoming season. He even admitted that he is working on finding “ways to get better.” From watching game films with the Packers quarterback coach, Thomas Albert Clements, to learning how to react when another rival team breaks a play, the 25-year-old is focused on improving himself and his game.

“That’s always the fun part of going back and forth, playing that chess game,” stated Love. The QB also complimented the team’s “very good coaching staff” and claimed that they were the ones who were “going to put us in the best position.” With plans to make an impact this year, the 25-year-old opined, “There’s no room to get complacent.” After all, with 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 17 games in 2023, this year could see the young star at new heights if he handles the defense immaculately.

Love is solely focused on the upcoming season and on his improvements. However, the athlete shed some light on his awaited contract extension during the OTAs.

Just last week, Jordan Love stunned his fans when he appeared at the OTAs. With no update on his potential contract with the team, the quarterback is still staying loyal to the team. At the press conference, the athlete was asked about his reasoning for showing up to the practice session. The 25-year-old responded, “That’s just something that I’ve always done, trying to be here, get the reps in, get the work in with the guys, and just start building that chemistry and getting ready for the season.”

With Love giving his all for the upcoming season, reporters began to wonder if there has been a positive update in the athlete’s contract saga. However, the quarterback quickly shut that down. He stated, “No, so I don’t really know what’s going on, but we’ll see.” Apart from that, the athlete admitted that he did not want to get into “too much contract stuff.”

Although everyone is keeping mum on the negotiations, HC Matt LaFleur admitted that Love attending the OTA meant “everything” to him and the team. After all, apart from one player MIA, the Packers had maintained an almost 100% attendance for their practice sessions. And with the 25-year-old proving his loyalty to the team, his new contract could come before the upcoming season begins.
