Rob Gronkowski and Travis Kelce are arguably two of the best and most popular tight ends in NFL history. Off-gridiron, they are also fast friends who would love to hit parties and spend time together. Not only this, but they are also of the same age group, which raises one question in the minds of many, i.e., their retirement plans.
Gronk, at the age of 33, had said goodbye to football after his illustrious 11-year career with the Patriots (9) and Buccaneers (2). So, following in his footsteps, will Travis Kelce retire sometime sooner? Well, when asked, Kelce had a very interesting answer for the media and fans.
Travis Kelce loves football!

In a recent press conference for the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday, Travis Kelce spoke to the media ahead of their 2024 wildcard matchup with the Miami Dolphins. We very well know that Travis Kelce turned 34 last year. On the same note, a curious reporter asked about his retirement plans. To which the tight end responded shockingly, “You guys think about retirement?”
He later playfully asked the other reporters in the room, Is there anyone else who was on the same boat and thinking about his retirement? Travis Kelce then continued, “I think, it’s just I have no reason to stop playing football. I love it. We still have success coming in with the right mindset and I just love the challenge that it gives me…..I have no desire to stop anytime soon.”
He steered clear of any decision to stop playing football, even at the age of 34. Travis Kelce isn’t retiring soon. In doing so, he also made it clear that, despite being a great companion, he isn’t on the career path of Rob Gronkowski, who retired from football at the age of 33.
Therefore now, Kelce’s only focus is on the gridiron, and his next game at the wildcard event against Miami.
Travis Kelce is excited!
Travis Kelce and team, the Chiefs, are just left with two days to prepare for an exciting snowy thriller against the Phins. Speaking to the media, Kelce, who seemed pumped up, said that he is “excited to get out there.” Having had a break last week, he felt the team made good use of the short week, putting in solid work together and building a strong collective effort.

Furthermore, he didn’t seem worried about not completing his 16-yards (for eight-straight 1,000-yard seasons) in the last game due to absence. Instead, Kelce is more focused on Super Bowls and being a good teammate, as he said, “I’m thinking more about Super Bowls when I talk about legacy and just having that desire to be a certain type of teammate day in and day out and having to channel in that right mindset for sure.”
