The Tom Brady revolution for the Raiders has begun. The team has been continuously taking some major decisions in recent weeks. They shocked everyone when they hired Pete Carroll as their head coach. And now that the HC issue was resolved, their focus was on the other big issue. You already know that Brady and company have resolved Maxx Crosby‘s contract confusions. This past year, issues with the DE’s contract began, but this year the Raiders decided to make history with Crosby. And looks like at this historical time, a former coach has called out the 27-year-old.
There was always buzz for Maxx Crosby regarding his pay. Claims were that the defensive end deserved to be paid more, and as a result, his contract was restructured before the 2024 season. But apparently it wasn’t enough, which is why Maxx Crosby’s contract was extended once again for a further three years at $106.5 million. Jeez! That’s a big chunk of money. This made him the highest-paid non-quarterback player in history, a record formerly held by the Vikings and Justin Jefferson. This has created a lot of hype around the DE, and his old coach who also praised him. This coach is none other than the Raiders’ previous head coach, Jon Gruden.

Gruden took to his X to comment on Crosby’s contract claiming that he is the only one who deserves it: “Nobody deserves it more than Maxx. His effort is unmatched!”This certainly shows how much time Jon Gruden invested with the DE to shape him into a great player. While Gruden is not one of the most respected coaches because of his habit of frequently changing teams. But his comment gained him a lot of respect, at least among the players. Maxx Crosby also responded to this message by saying that he still loves his former coach.
The DE even claimed that there are still a lot of things for him to learn from here on: “Love You Coach! More Is Required.”The Raiders have truly stunned the NFL world with this move. But did you realize that the most interesting fact of this contract is that Crosby is guaranteed $91 million out of $106.5 million? Just unbelievable. Because of this, the team has created a lot of headlines, and fans are now anticipating that the club can perform much better next year. There are rumors that Maxx Crosby’s signing was one of Tom Brady’s decisions. If it’s true, then Brady is certainly running the business very well, and while making this decision, he had one thing clear in his mind.

With Maxx Crosby’s signing, Tom Brady indicated that he means business
When the Raiders sold Tom Brady some stakes, it was obvious that things were going to become wild for them. Everyone expected the team to do significantly better, but 2024 was their worst fear. Ending with 4-13, the team never stood their ground, but Brady is determined not to let that happen again. According to rumors, Maxx Crosby’s agreement with the team was done solely to show to the public that the Raiders can too do big things. Not only that, but in fact they are on a mission to crush everyone.

What’s your perspective on:
Did Tom Brady's decision to back Maxx Crosby signal a new era for the Raiders?
Have an interesting take?
But why did Brady pick Crosby to prove these things? Well, the number one explanation would be statistics. Crosby serves as the Raiders’ defensive wall. He joined the squad in 2019, and since leads all defensive linemen with 105 tackles. Despite playing only 12 games last season, he recorded 7.5 sacks and 45 tackles. Now that could have been a major reason. But wait there’s more.

And number two would be the loyalty Crosby has for the Raiders. I mean just look at his comments on the team, they clearly show that he is a true Raider: “It’s an honor to be held at that high of a standard. I take that seriously. I’ve said it a million times, I feel like I was meant to be a Raider. I love being here. I love the people. You look at all the legends that created what this brand is, and that’s winning. That’s what I want to solidify, and those guys are all about winning.”
It is apparent that Las Vegas has the potential to make more such big decisions. And who knows, they could even make us see the league’s highest-paid quarterback playing in black. But what do you all think? Did Tom Brady make the correct choice here?
