Aaron Rodgers doesn’t fail to keep the news outlets working overtime! Recently, A-Rod was involved in a slight tussle with his WR1 Garrett Wilson, and it went viral. However, the issue wasn’t big enough and was sorted by the end of the day. Now the question that comes the mind is, could it have been avoided if the 4x MVP attended the mandatory minicamp? Nick Wright thinks so.
Nick Wright was pretty vocal about Rodgers missing out on mandatory training camp to catch a flight to Egypt. This scuffle against Wilson gave him another chance to wake the sleeping dogs. Only this time, Wright was a bit optimistic about the situation that the New York Jets are in.
“Listen, I’m not bothered by this at all, and I do think the ending of it them dapping each other up was noteworthy and important,” said Wright on First Things First. “I think having a little brief spat with someone at work but then making sure that you guys when you leave the room are on good terms is important and good.”

Rodgers’ teammates supported him in his absence. Coach Saleh said he’s on good terms with the QB after his ‘unexcused absence’, even though he was fined about $100k for missing the camp. Sauce Gardner also defended him too. But the thing is, Rodgers could have been one step ahead if he had attended the training. The point is that this problem with Garrett Wilson would be a thing of the past if everyone was present at the camp earlier.
“If minicamp doesn’t matter at all, if none of that stuff matters, then this [Rodgers-Wilson altercation] doesn’t matter. Because this is the whole point of having those mandatory have everyone together moments,” added Wright.
Whatever transpired is alright in Wright’s books and he gave props to Rodgers and Wilson for rehashing their differences. But these problems could have been avoided altogether and that’s what the analyst is salty about. “I also think that’s why a couple of days of mandatory mini camp are not nothing because that’s what fosters these types of things.”
Before we talk about what actually happened between Rodgers and Garrett Wilson, let’s talk about fostering negative emotions. That’s something that Haason Reddick has right now. His contract dispute isn’t settled with the team, and he’ll be holding out for quite some time. So, that’s another thing the Jets need to improve upon before letting their players go at it.

Trouble in Aaron Rodgers’ paradise
Things get chippy during training camp, and it isn’t something new. However, it’s not really clear what the QB-WR duo was arguing about. There are reports that Garrett Wilson ran a different route than he was supposed to run and there was a heated discussion about it. However, Rodgers buried the hatchet and things are back to normal.

A-Rod talked to the media later and heaped praises of his receiver saying he’s “dynamic” and that he’s having a hard time keeping up with Wilson’s speed. “He’s hard to throw to honestly. He’s so damn fast,” Rodgers said.
“I threw a ball to him that first play of practice on Wednesday. I threw it and I thought I maybe had overthrown him and he actually slowed down half-a-step. It’s takes some getting used to. He’s just so dynamic because he can go from zero to full speed so quickly.”
Despite all the evidence of the scuffle, there aren’t many videos that show how Rodgers and Jets training camp is really going. But Rodgers is throwing Hail Mary’s to his receiver, and he’s in good shape. What’s even better? Garrett Wilson catching the ball with two defenders on his tail.

There was another situation, though, where things got a bit chippy. Apparently, Rodgers was intercepted during the practice and wasn’t happy about it. Then someone stepped on his foot and the QB was fuming. So far, the Jets’ defense, one of the top ones in the league, is giving Rodgers’ offense a hard time. But that’s a good thing because having a good defense can force the offense to get better.
Allen Lazard, Rodgers’s former Green Bay teammate, thought that the offense was a “little bit sloppy.” If that’s the case, the Jets offense needs to level up because the regular season is right around the corner and their first opponent will be the San Francisco 49ers.
