Is Nick Sirianni's sideline behavior a sign of passion or a lack of professionalism?

You know that trope where the protagonist suffers a life-changing event or realization and then gets a haircut? Well, maybe there’s some basis to it. Nick Sirianni seems to have followed suit. Coming into week 6 after a bye-week, it seems like a message symbolizing the Eagles’ attitude shift. Now, he’s not quite donning a mohawk like Travis Bickle, but he’s definitely picked up the aggressive inspiration.

In the closing seconds of the Philadelphia Eagles’ win over the Cleveland Browns, Sirianni wasn’t looking to his players on the field to celebrate. No, instead he was seen yelling into the stands and jeering at fans, pretending he couldn’t hear what they were saying. This was remarkably immature behavior for a coach at his level. Rasing questions about his ability to control his players when he is unable to control his emotional outbursts.

The outburst was seemingly an attempt at lashing out at critics after a win. Bad look to do so after a win that couldn’t really be called decisive. In the course of the 20-16 win, the Iggles were never behind the Browns, but they weren’t the dominant team as well. Plus, you’ve got to see this in the context of other performances from the team. Despite having a winning record of 3-2 as of now, the Philly team has been unable to bag a single win by more than 5 point difference. Also, they’re currently in a division topped by the Commanders, who they’ll have to eventually surmount to reach the playoffs.

Not to mention, their cause hasn’t been helped by some of Nick Sirianni’s bizarre playcalling. Is the shaved head a sign that he’s beyond all that? Only time will tell. For now, the Philadelphia Eagles should focus on their upcoming games. Their next three games are against the Giants, the Bengals, and the Jaguars. With all three teams underperforming this season, the Eagles should use this to their advantage, and hope to better their record.

Is Sirianni’s hairdo the worst thing to have graced the field?

Nick Sirianni’s shaved head has already drawn some ridicule online. It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to assume the fans he was yelling at had engaged in a little ridicule themselves. Fashion and hairstyles are subjective. Some people just thought it didn’t work for him. But he’s far from the worst thing to have walked onto the NFL field.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Nick Sirianni's sideline behavior a sign of passion or a lack of professionalism?

Have an interesting take?

Who could forget quarterback Tim Tebow’s monk hairdo during his rookie season with the Denver Broncos? Or that one time Tom Brady tried out flowing locks before he gave up? And honestly, Antonio Garay might have been better known for his shaved colored patterned hairstyles than his time on-field.

It’s a shame they always have their helmets on, there’s been no end of interesting (that’s the best word for it) hair in the NFL. Sirianni’s not nearly the worst or most standout. But he surely chose an interesting time to go through a transformation.
