The Eagles have taken flight, cruising high with no intention of coming down—until injuries started shaking things up. Sounds shocking, right? But it is what it is. With the NFC Championship game against the Commanders on the horizon, Nick Sirianni and Co. are facing some serious injury concerns within their starting lineup. Center, Cam Jurgens, has missed multiple practice sessions this week due to a back injury.
The Eagles’ guard, Landon Dickerson, took snaps in Jurgens’ absence during the practice while Tyler Steen replaced Dickerson at the Guard position. Now ahead of the mega showdown on Sunday, the head coach shared an update on Jurgens whether he’s playing or not. “We’ll see. You’ll get an injury report later in the day,” the head coach stated. But hold up, Philly fans can take a sigh of relief because Sirianni said that Jurgens is progressing.

But the Eagles’ problems don’t end here. Apart from their center, the Philadelphia team’s tight end, Dallas Goedert has had his fair share of injuries this season. I mean, the 30-year-old TE has missed a total of 7 games this season. Three due to his hamstring injury and four more games due to his knee injury. Talk about disaster.
His track record? It’s impressive for a guy who has suffered major injuries this season. Goedert has recorded 42 catches for 496 yards in 10 games of the regular season. And when it comes to playoffs, the TE has 8 catches for 103 yards and a TD in two playoff games. However, the dark clouds are looming over his head ahead of the championship game. The reason?
Well, just like Jurgens, the veteran TE missed out on the practice sessions as well due to an ankle injury and watched from the sidelines. But here’s the silver line: just a few moments ago, the tight end gave a major update on his injury. Goedert said that he’s playing vs. the Commanders despite ankle injury. Finally, something to make Eagles‘ fans actually sit up and cheer.
While this might be somewhat of a positive update, a former Eagle is not considering the current team situation a positive one for the Iggles!

Per Sirianni, the fans have to wait a bit more to get an injury report on Jurgens. However, the former Eagles’ fullback, Jon Ritchie, has expressed his major concerns about the Center. Spoiler alert: he’s very concerned about the game this time. “Landon Dickerson is playing center for us,” Ritchie said on Friday’s 94WIP Morning Show.
“We’ve got different order,” he continued. “We’ve got different communications on every front. Landon is an incredible football player. But I don’t know about [Tyler] Steen next to him. I don’t know how they’ll work together. I know that the calls will be different when it’s a different person making the calls. And I know all of this is incredibly distracting. And where I was once not concerned about this game, I am now very concerned.”
So here’s the deal: with Jurgens seems to miss out on Sunday, Dickerson’s gonna step up in his place. That’s tricky if we’re being honest, and Ritchie knows it very well. I mean, with Dickerson coming into a new position, things can be thrown off the rhythm a bit. To add to that, with Tyler Steen filling in as the new guard, there’s a whole new dynamic in place. Looks like Nick Sirianni and Co. are playing musical chairs with their O-line.

Sure, the Eagles have been on fire throughout the season. But these injuries are almost matching that intensity right now. Not to mention that heart-stopping moment when Jalen Hurts hurt his knee in the divisional round. But amidst the injury concerns regarding Jurgens and Goedert, there’s a silver lining: the QB’s back at practice and looks good to go for Sunday’s game against Jayden Daniels’ Commanders.
