The result in Philadelphia on Sunday could have been very different. Like it could be the Rams heading to the NFC Championship game instead of the Eagles. Yeah, that final score of 28-22 looks comfortable for the eyes. But anyone who had watched the game between those two would know how close it could have been. If it did go in the favor of the Rams. One man in Philadelphia would have received all the heat humanly imaginable. And that’s none other than the Eagles kicker Jake Elliott.
On a snowy Lincoln field, Elliot, who is often a reliable special teams player, missed two extra-point attempts. His first miss came when Jalen Hurts had just scored a 44-yard rushing TD. Then, the Rams scored a TD themselves on their next drive, thereby gaining a lead by a point. Well, his next miss didn’t come until the 4th quarter. Saquon Barkley had just scored a 78-yard rushing TD to pull the game away from the Rams’ grasp. However, LA, just like in the first quarter, scored another TD to get within six points of the Phillies.
But thanks to the Rams, turning the football over in the next drive stopped them from completing the comeback. Those missed extra-point attempts were the reason the Phillies couldn’t close the game out sooner. And that led to questions being raised about Jake Elliot’s position in the team. So, Nick Sirianni, on Tuesday via Sports Radio WIP, gave his final verdict on Elliott, “He’s 6-for-6 in the playoffs on field goals in adverse conditions. I got a lot of faith in Jake and I know he’s clutch when we need him to be clutch.”

Are you sticking by kicker Jake Elliott?
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni: “Yes, for sure. He’s 6-for-6 in the playoffs on field goals in adverse conditions. I got a lot of faith in Jake and I know he’s clutch when we need him to be clutch.”

See, Sirianni isn’t wrong to stick by his kicker. That game could have been just a dark spot on Elliott’s overall glittering playoff record. He remains at the second spot behind the legendary former placekicker Robbie Gould in playoff field goals. His 20 only trails Gould’s 29 with the Bears and the Niners. Besides his impeccable record in the playoffs. Elliot missed eight field goals this season, which could be a worrying trend for the Eagles moving forward.
But for now, it seems he is the man to guide the Eagles back to the Super Bowl. However, Jake Elliott’s position in the team wasn’t the only update that Nick Sirianni gave on Sports Radio WIP. He also gave a huge update on Jalen Hurts’ knee injury.

Philadelphia Jalen Hurts isn’t missing any game
See, when Rams safety Jaylen McCollough sacked Jalen Hurts, it looked like a painful injury. Hurts couldn’t get up after absorbing the sack and had to leave the pitch for a quick checkup. However, to everyone’s surprise, he did manage to return without missing any snaps. But had a knee brace on his left knee for the rest of the game. His mobility is a huge factor that enabled the Eagles to move past the Rams. That 44-yard rushing TD in the first quarter gave the Eagles a lead early into the game.
So, after the game finished and the Eagles had punched their ticket to the NFC Championship game. Hurts was asked to give an update on his knee: “I’m just seeing how the week will go. Seeing how things progress.” Until today, we haven’t received a clear update on Hurts’ recovery. However, Sirianni brought that news to the Phillies, saying, “We are preparing with Hurts being the quarterback.”

This means their star QB won’t be missing the Commanders game after all. It would be a huge clash against their divisional rivals, who had just dunked 45 points in Detriot. With odds seemingly in favor of the Eagles, Hurts and his boys must look out for yet another upset in the hands of the Commanders.
