This is the penultimate week of the regular season. Football played will be of the highest quality and the joys of playoff promotions and the heartbreaks of missing out this season will be felt all over the country. So, let’s look at three leading QBs who have suffered injuries. What are their chances to get on the field this week?
Under the microscope are three young QBs at the top of their games. Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars, CJ Stroud of the Houston Texans, and Brock Purdy from the San Francisco 49ers. All three have been dealing with injuries leading up to the Week 17 game. Can they re-aggravate their injuries?
Brock Purdy leads a young crop of quarterbacks

The 24-year-old Purdy has been dealing with his stringer injury all season long. But he re-aggravated it in the fourth quarter during the game against the Ravens. He is more than expected to start the game, but there are chances that he might re-injure himself.

According to sports physician Dr. Jesse Morse, his risk of reinjury is around 20%-30%. Nevertheless, he is expected to start the game against the minnows Washington Commanders. But the same cannot be said for Trevor Lawrence.

The 24-year-old Lawrence is suffering from multiple injuries in his ankle along with a concussion. He did not participate in practice and is expected to miss the game against the Carolina Panthers. The rookie, CJ Stroud, should be back on the gridiron against the Tennessee Titans after serving his concussion protocol. But what chances do these QBs have of playing in the postseason?
Postseason possibilities for the youngsters
Amongst these QBs, Brock Purdy is guaranteed to be in the playoffs. The 49ers have already qualified and are fighting for the top-seed position in the NFC in their next two matchups. Even though the Jaguars have missed Lawerence dearly, they can have his skills on display in the postseason.

The Jaguars are currently in the second position to grab one of the four available spots for the playoffs in the AFC. Their current chances are 68% but a win over the Panthers will balloon it to 82%. Stroud, on the other hand, has a tough battle for the playoffs and it’s good that the Texans have him for the next game against the Buccaneers. A win would take their chances up to 52%.
