The Chiefs are on their way to making history. And Patrick Mahomes has always been the center strength of the team. However, for the time being, the main man is down. In case you missed it the QB injured his ankle in week 15. Although it was not something significant, it dealt him a tremendous blow, and his leg’s condition is not great. And now the question arises whether he should play or not.

After Week 15, it seems evident that the Chiefs are heading to the playoffs. So, will it be worthwhile to allow Patrick Mahomes to play in the remaining games of the season, putting his health at risk? Well, just by the sound of it, you can tell it’s a bad idea, and FS1 experts agree. Chris Broussard, a commentator, has expressed support for Mahomes being benched in week 16.

Broussard said, “I have compared him to Michael Jordan, that desire to play no matter what. He should sit. This shouldn’t even be a question. It’s a high ankle sprain. He’s already been hit more than any QB in the league. To me, this shouldn’t even be a question.” This was a compelling argument, and NFL legend Ryan Clark agreed with it.

The former safety believes Patrick Mahomes is extremely important, so his use should be limited at this time. His health has the potential to affect not simply a few games but the entire Super Bowl season.

Clark said, “Use Extreme Caution! The Buffalo Bills are nipping at their heels, but it’s more important to me to have a healthy Patrick Mahomes than to force your way into home-field advantage. We’ve watched this team go on the road and win the Super Bowl.”

While some analysts believe Mahomes should be benched for now. Some believe that the quarterback should not return to the field until the playoffs. Interesting…

What’s your perspective on:

Should the Chiefs risk Mahomes' health for a few games, or save him for the playoffs?

Should Patrick Mahomes return to the field during the playoffs?

So, this idea sounds both right and wrong at the same time. And former defensive end Marcus Spears has made this idea to the Chiefs. He asserted that the squad already has home-field advantage in their upcoming games. Furthermore, they have enormous potential to win the season. Therefore, they should not risk Mahomes playing until the playoffs.

Spears explained, “Sit him down! Forget being cautious, sit him down! Some field advantage don’t mean anything if he ain’t healthy. If he can’t go or is going to be hampered. Sit him down until the playoffs.”

While experts have suggested that Mahomes be out of the field, do you believe the quarterback will stay put? If we know Mahomes, we know the obvious answer. As Craig Carton pointed out on the show, the team’s management should talk to the quarterback and persuade him not to play for a few days. In this way, the man can totally recover, and his good health may contribute to the Chiefs making history.

“I would not play him and I know you are going to have to fight with him in the office to convince him as to why but we are trying to do something that has never been done. It’s a legacy year for the Chiefs. The Texans are a fast, Violent defense. What’s the upside here?” said Carton.

Despite the many issues surrounding Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback is not giving up hope. This week, too, he was practicing despite the pain from the injuries he sustained. While his determination is admirable, it is also perilous. What’s your take on Mahomes’ injury? Do you think the quarterback should start the next few games?
