The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the 3 team in the NFC South currently. They are on a 3 loss streak and things have not been looking good for the Bucs. Added to this, the trade deadline is ending in just a few hours. In the wake of the fleeting time, the Bucs had to make a rather quick decision that involved QB John Wolford.

Greg Auman from FOX Sports recently revealed some information that the LA Rams would not be the most pleased with. Dave Canales has made a decision that might future-proof the offensive side of the Buccaneers to some extent. Wolford and his addition to the 53-man roster might turn out to be the savior for the Bucs.

According to the recent developments and as per the tweet from Greg Auman, it is confirmed that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are signing up the former LA Rams QB John Wolford to their roster. He was promoted from the practice squad to a permanent member of the roster, as the news of him being taken in by his old coalition was making rounds.

Now this may come as a precaution for the Bucs because Baker Mayfield recently sustained a knee injury, and his status is questionable for the next game. This might have been the right decision on Canales’ part to have a backup QB ready in time, in case Baker Mayfield’s complications are not resolved till the upcoming game.

A highlight of the trade remains that speculation surrounded the Rams’ inclination to take in Wolford as well but before they could do that, the Bucs swooped in and took the opportunity from them. The addition for the team seems to come at the perfect time, as the Bucs currently have been facing varied troubles on the field.

Right now, matters don’t look suitable for the Buccaneers as they struggle to snatch a win in the last 3 games. They lost to the Lions, the Falcons, and the Bills in their previous couple of games. Add to that, Baker Mayfield sustained a knee injury, and he was assigned a 10-day rest before week 9 began.

The MRI didn’t indicate anything serious, but the Bucs are leaving no stone unturned ahead of some major games in the future. Mayfield played against the Bills and scored 2 touchdowns but had a below-average performance in the game. He was sacked 3 times in the game and came out with a 59.5% pass completion rate.

According to experts, Mayfield’s performance has taken a hit in the past couple of games and fans are apprehensive about his abilities to carry the team forward. Many look forward to seeing Kyle Trask take his place, but after the John Wolford contract is in motion, little can be said about Trask’s place.
