With the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday, the Colts could make further changes in their QB position. After getting sacked to the bench and replaced by a 39-year-old QB, Anthony Richardson could be on his way out of Indianapolis. Well, Fox Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz thinks so, as several teams have already started inquiring about the possibility of trading the 22-year-old.

Although this trade move this late in the window looks unlikely, nothing can be ruled out as Richardson may have lost the faith of Indy coach Shane Steichen. His comments after the Texans clash expressing he was just ‘tired’ as he took a breather on the sidelines brought a whirlwind of criticism. With all eyes on Richardson’s tap-out, the Indy coaches called for a meeting the following day. And came to the decision that Joe Flacco would be their QB going forward.

Well, Richardson’s numbers after six starts this season don’t help his case, either. Having completed just 44.4 % of his passes with four TDs and a whopping seven interceptions. Richardson would now have to watch a 17-year-old veteran throw passes ahead of him the rest of the season. This might have led to franchises inquiring about adding last year’s No.4 overall into their roster. If the Colts do decide to pull the plug on their franchise-caliber QB, it could seem like a premature decision.

Potential landing spots for Richardson

Given that he only made 10 starts for Indy, Richardson may have a lot to prove in the NFL. And franchises look to add the 22-year-old on their roster before Tuesday.

  • Cleveland Browns

What’s your perspective on:

Are the Colts making a mistake by sidelining a young talent like Anthony Richardson?

Have an interesting take?

After 8 weeks of NFL action, we all know where the Browns stand in their QB room. Having lost their $230 million worth QB Deshaun Watson to a season-ending ACL. The Browns finally made the switch to Jameis Winston, who brought them a surprise victory over the Ravens last week. Him throwing 334 passing yards and 3 TDs helped the Browns win only their second game of the season. Although that could be too late to salvage their season, the Browns could benefit from having a young QB like Richardson on their side.

While Watson continues to recover from his ACL, Richardson could steer the ship in Cleveland alongside Winston. Considering the way Deshaun was playing before his unfortunate injury in week 7, it isn’t like he would be welcome any time soon in Cleveland. So, having Richardson as their signal caller next season could bring some excitement back to Cleveland.

  • Las Vegas Raiders

In Antonio Pierce’s first season as head coach, the Raiders have found themselves bottom in the AFC West. Well, they have also gone through multiple changes in their QB position. After sacking Gardner Minshew as their starting QB, the Raiders handed the keys to Aidan O’Connell. And to their surprise, he has also failed to lift the silver and black this season. His lack of arm strength and mobility has kept on hurting his chances of nailing down the starting berth.

With Anthony Richardson’s agility and ability to throw deep field passes, the Raiders could easily unlock defenses with him starting in Las Vegas. But it’s still unlikely that Richardson could prefer moving to the Raiders, considering their lack of coherence in the squad.

  • Los Angeles Rams

Rams could be the surprise package in the list of franchises chasing Richardson before the trade window closes on Tuesday. Well, what could be the possible reason for them moving away from Matthew Stafford? His age. Yes, you guessed that right. Stafford is almost 37 years old with 491 sacks in his career. Although Stafford has a lot to offer in coming years, the Rams could start developing Richardson for an eventual takeover in Los Angeles.

  • Miami Dolphins

Unlike other teams that have certain issues at center, the Dolphins’ problems are elsewhere. Although they have a signal caller in Tua Tagovailoa who fits Mike McDaniel’s offensive philosophy so well, his concussion problems are a headache. After serving his third concussion protocol in two years, Tagovailoa may be back in Miami. But how long will it be before he finds himself yet again on the treatment table?

Without him, the Phins aren’t half of the team they look like. Him missing four games led to the Dolphins winning only once, and that too against the struggling Patriots. On adding Richardson to their roster, the Dolphins could have a reliable QB who can hurt the opposition’s defenses on his day. However, them choosing to make a move for the 22-year-old could cause a possible rift between Tua and the Phins.

  • New York Giants

Out of all the possible landing spots, Anthony Richardson could look at the Giants might be the most suitable option. Seeing Daniel Jones consistently struggle to make an impact after his $160 million contract. It’s only a matter of time before the Giants pull the plug on their signal caller. Considering his $22.2 million dead cap hit next season, Jones could be on borrowed time this season. Leading the Giants to only 2 wins out of 8 games aren’t the numbers that can guarantee his place next season.

So, the Giants making a move for Richardson wouldn’t be surprising if they want to salvage their season. Well, Richardson could also get a fresh start in New York to turn around his career in the NFL.

For now, Anthony Richardson is set to play the role of a backup for the Colts. While he introspects about the possible mistakes that led to him getting benched after just 10 starts in Indy. Teams continue to hover over securing his signing before the deadline on Tuesday. Will Richardson manage to get himself out before Nov 5th? Or does he have to see out the rest of the season on the bench? Well, it depends upon other franchises and the Colts’ willingness to get rid of their No.4 overall.
