As the NFL trade deadline looms large, it seems the clock couldn’t be ticking faster and slower at the same time. As fans around the world wait with bated breaths for last-minute roster moves and shockers, the action seems to be heating on the gridiron. One last chance to one-up each other. The franchises are in the last lap of the rat race, and all it needs to make it to the finish line is a throttle as powerful as a blitzing linebacker.
Even the San Francisco 49ers are leaving no stone unturned to reclaim their former glory after two consecutive losses. And it looks like they might have just thrown their ace on the table. Who’s the Trump card? Let’s open the playbook.

Look what the cat dragged in. The San Francisco 49ers are reeling from a particularly embarrassing upset by Kirk Cousins-led Minnesota Vikings. And it looks like they’ve taken the beat down personally. In an attempt to reclaim their former glory, the Niners were undefeated for five whole weeks this season. And now they are making some roster moves. It seems like they might have just bagged the cat.
The NFL’s official Instagram handle dropped the bomb that the Niners acquired Washington Commanders Defensive end Chase Young. The post features an Image of Young, with the caption, “TRADE: @49ers trading for Commanders DE Chase Young. (via @rapsheet)”
Looks like Magic Johnson is the monopoly king this trade season.

NFL chess moves: Commanders’ long-term vision in trade for 2nd round pick
Star pass rusher Chase Young is not the only DE who seems to be moving camp from the Washington Commanders. Earlier today, Dov Kleiman reported that the Chicago Bears, fulfilling their bare necessities, acquired pass rusher Montez Sweat in exchange for a 2nd round pick-up from their 2024 draft. From the looks of it, it seems like Magic Johnson is chasing the bigger picture.
The Commanders are already somewhere in the middle rung of the ladder with 3-5 at week 8. And the chances of winning the next season with a fresh new team seem much brighter than making a comeback this season. But this is the NFL, after all. Landscapes change by the minute.
