After this robbery and shooting incident around 7:45 p.m, Ricky Pearsall’s close teammate, Deebo Samuel, connected to the authorities to check on his health. The 28-year-old even shared the update with his followers on X, writing, “He’s good (with a praying emoji). Thank god!!!!” Not only him!

Even the Las Vegas Raiders star player, Maxx Crosby too took to social media to write his heart out for Ricky Pearsall. On his official X account on August 31, 2024, Crosby wrote, “Smh. Prayers Up To You Brother (with a praying emoji).” He also shared the news posted by the NFL of Pearsall’s shooting.

Ricky Pearsall’s journey is one that’s hard to ignore. He started at Arizona State, where he showed flashes of greatness, especially in 2021. But it was his move to Florida that truly elevated his game. In 2022, he averaged an impressive 20 yards per catch. Then, in 2023, he posted career-best numbers with 65 receptions and 965 yards, proving he belonged among the best. Hence, the San Francisco 49ers noticed it, and they picked him in Round 1, adding him to a team already full of stars like Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel.

However, this incident now will likely derail his NFL career as he was about to start in a September 9 game against the Jets, after dealing with multiple setbacks.

Pearsall wasn’t a part of the preseason!

Picked at 31 in round 1 at 2024 NFL Draft, Ricky Pearsall never missed a game throughout his five-year, 55-game college career. However, due to a shoulder subluxation on August 6, which appeared in his seventh practice of training camp, the rookie wide receiver was sidelined for 20 days. For the first time, he didn’t play in the games in which he was about to, as he was ruled out for the preseason games due to this injury. In addition, Pearsall also faced a hamstring injury recently due to which he “missed the first four practices of the summer.”

Besides that, interestingly, Pearsall also faced this kind of shoulder subluxation in college. But coach Kyle Shanahan downplayed it by saying “it’s a normal thing.” He said, “He [Ricky Pearsall] did it in college — I think his junior year. About 50 percent of the people coming out of college do that. That wasn’t really the problem. He did it in OTAs for the first time with us. When you do that, it’s tender. Then he redid it here a couple weeks ago. It makes it tender, so you want to give him time to come back from it.”

And later after preseason games, Pearsall continued to workout with the team “while undergoing physical therapy to stabilize and strengthen the muscles around the shoulder.” He was about to start off Week 1, and now, this shooting incident has definitely caused trouble for him and the 49ers.

Now, replacing Ricky Pearsall, Ronnie Bell might be coming as the backup receiver for Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.
