Tom Brady once wrote, “Throughout my NFL career, I’ve learned that at its core, football is a game of teamwork, resilience and a relentless pursuit of excellence. The Raiders‘ franchise and the city of Las Vegas embody these same values, and I’m honored to be a part of that story.” Most NFL superstars ride off into the sunset post-retirement? But Brady? Nah. He’s flipping the script, stepping into the boardroom and making moves that could shake up the league.
Tom Brady became a 10% owner of the Las Vegas Raiders back in October 2024 with his business partner, Tom Wagner. Since then, he’s been working on building a new legacy for himself as a franchise owner. He’s bringing his experience as a 7-time Super Bowl winner to the forefront of the team. And now, birds around the rumor mill are chirping that Brady is looking to snatch one of Jordan Love’s wide receivers.
Rumors are swirling around Romeo Doubs, the Packers’ young receiver who’s shown major potential in his plays. In an already crowded WR room, Green Bay’s brought in Mecole Hardman, and Romeo is probably wondering if it’s his time to find a greener field to dominate. Raiders, on the other hand, have a new QB who needs some weapons under his belt. For Geno Smith, Doubs could very well be that guy. He’s young, talented, and primed to break out if given the space. Doubs is coming off multiple concussions last season as well as a one-game suspension. His numbers are a different matter, though. He has averaged 46.2 receiving yards per game with a sweet 63.9% catch rate. He brings speed, size, and solid route-running, and could easily become a top option for Smith.

The Las Vegas team’s been in rebuild mode after their disappointing performance last season, and landing Doubs could be the move that puts them back in the mix. With HC Pete Caroll and GM John Spytek at the helm, the Brady gang’s bringing a new vibe to the town. They’re building around guys who fit the system, and not just big names. And speaking about building around guys, Jakobi Meyers’ contract is ending soon, and the Raiders need to make a call.

Jakobi Meyers – Brady’s blueprint for success?
If the Raiders bring in Doubs, what does that mean for Jakobi Meyers? The dude’s just had his best season with 87 catches and swooping 1027 yards. He’s heading into the final year of his contract deal with a little south of $15M cap hit for 2025. According to ESPN’s Ryan McFadden, Meyers wants to stay and sign an extension, if the Raiders offer him one. Geno Smith is all for playing alongside Meyers: “We’re so excited about getting the chance to work together – I followed him from New England to here and always thought he was a really good receiver.”

If Brady pulls off both moves – trading for Doubs and locking in Myers for the long term – the Raiders will have a dangerous WR room to say the least. A perfect combo of explosiveness and reliability. So now it’s on the front office to figure stuff out. Pay the man now, or risk losing him if he walks out next year. It’s a tough call, but one thing’s certain, Meyers has earned his place at the table.

Whether Romeo Doubs ends up in Silver and Black, and whether Jakobi Meyers gets his bag, we can see the Raiders are getting ready to explode into the scene with Brady’s competitive edge.
