The Bills have already announced their plans for the 2025 season. HC Sean McDermott wants to strengthen their defense. Josh Allen has done enough work to prove that he can lead the offense. But there have been issues with stopping the rivals. That’s when they heard about the Steelers releasing their LB, Preston Smith. It’s free agency, folks! Run and grab the best players, whoever you can. So, the Bills are also assessing their options.

According to the NFL Draft analyst Tony Pauline, the Bills are one of the potential contenders for the $52.5 million star. The edge rusher’s game impressed HC Mike Tomlin. It was one of the main reasons they brought the $52 million star into the franchise at the trade deadline last November. But things changed over the past two months.

Preston Smith played 8 games but didn’t start in any game for the Black and the Gold. In those 8 games, he had 1 fumble recovery, 2 sacks, 13 tackles (6 solo), and 2 quarterback hits. So, while Tomlin’s confidence hit a new low, Sean McDermott is confident that Smith could do wonders in his system.

However, there’s a catch. During his tenure with the Packers, the LB openly criticized their 3-4 playmaking. He claimed that he wasn’t growing with the team. This means the Bills would need to deal with a bit of attitude as well. But it’s the last shot of redemption for the HC and the LB.

Sean McDermott and Josh Allen failed to soar past the Andy Reid Patrick Mahomes combination. So, they are desperately looking for some experienced players who could help them. The 32-year-old LB would also like to go to the Super Bowl-caliber franchise. The Bills have that edge over others. But Smith isn’t the only one who thinks that way.

Other players are also interested in the Bills. They believe that they need a little push to lift the trophy.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Preston Smith be the missing piece for the Bills' defense to finally dominate the league?

Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby might approach Sean McDermott

A few weeks ago, Browns‘ DE Myles Garrett shocked everyone by claiming that he wanted out. He has big ambitions, like a Super Bowl. Additionally, the quarterback situation puts the Browns in a tough spot, with no clarity on their starter. Why so? Well, Deshaun Watson underwent a second surgery to repair his right Achilles tendon.

So, he might land at the Bills. If he does, it would certainly delight Sean McDermott. LV Raiders DE Maxx Crosby, who is recovering from an ankle injury, is also interested in the Bills. He played till week 15 despite suffering the injury in week 2. However, the Raiders are in a rebuilding mode, like the Browns.

Head coach Pete Carroll and co-owner Tom Brady are trying to figure out the new quarterback for the franchise. While both DEs want out, their teams are in no mood to let them leave. So, the things are moving at an electric speed before the free agency on March 12.
