Quarterback Joe Flacco has demonstrated that he can still come in handy in tough situations. Hence, the veteran QB is being reported to be on the radar of the New England Patriots. His one-year deal with the Cleveland Browns is soon to expire and the Patriots with a new HC are all set to scoop him up!

Flacco was signed by the Browns as a free agent in 2023 for a year. However, the 39-year-old proved his worth in that single year! Now, becoming the target of one of the most successful franchises in NFL history.

The Patriots to bolster their QB options

The 25-year-old Mac Jones hasn’t been as up to the mark as the Patriots expected him to be. And the newly appointed head coach Jerod Mayo is looking to bring in some more competition for the coveted starter role, as per reports.

However, Flacco is still signed with the Browns and the Patriots cannot contact the 39-year-old before the free agency kicks off on Wednesday, March 13.

Even though Flacco came in handy for the Browns during the clutch part of the season, they reportedly do not have any intention to re-sign him. And the former Super Bowl winner is destined to look for another franchise. Will the move to the Patriots signify the revival of his long career or an end to it?

The former starting QB for the Baltimore Ravens, spent more than a decade with them. Winning the Super Bowl and the Super Bowl MVP as well. However, frequent injuries and a dip in form relegated him to the role of a journeyman. Joining 4 teams in 5 years, since leaving the Ravens.

Flacco with only 5 games under his belt with the Browns last season, demonstrated that he has more in the tank. His impressive playoff-securing wins made him the recipient of NFL Comeback Player of the Year 2023. But with another move, is this the dawn of his career or will he go out with a bang playing for the Patriots?
