This is the NFL offseason—where every day throws out a crazy contract extension, a shocking roster cut, and the wildest curveball of them all? Trading for players in exchange for a higher pick, or let’s just say a young talent. One day, it’s a team handing out a record-breaking deal, and the next, it’s a blockbuster trade that no one saw coming. Except maybe that one guy on “X” who “totally called it” weeks ago.
That’s the exact case of the Green Bay Packers. And at this point, it’s fair enough to say that we’ve to keep close tabs on the Packers. The reason? Well, if the sources are to be believed, a source indicated they have had discussions with the Seahawks this week and have an offer on the table that includes a high pick and a young receiver on the roster to acquire DK Metcalf.

Obvious connection to Schneider as well.

Nope, not a typo. The Packers are eyeing the 7th year wide receiver from Seattle. Peter Bukowski, a Green Bay insider, recently broke the news. Plus, word on the street is the Packers might throw in the No. 23 pick and one of their wideouts in a trade in exchange for the Seahawks’ wideout.
You see, the Green Bay team is eyeing Metcalf to bolster their wide receiver corps, addressing both depth and experience concerns. Currently, they’ve Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs on their lineup. And let’s just say, they’re not the right fir for the QB1 in 2025. The reason? For starters, Watson had a standout season in 2024, but he suffered a non-contact injury in his right knee in week 18.
That said, it’s likely that Watson may not be available throughout the 2025 season. As for Doubs, well, he’s got some off-the-field stuff to sort out first. On no, not now. I mean, the Packers suspended him from the week 5 game in the last season after he reportedly stayed away from two days of practice. So yeah, it’s unlikely that he’ll be the WR1.
On the flip side, ever since Devante Adams left the town, the Packers didn’t have a true WR1. One of the many reasons why they’re planning to bring in DK Metcalf. Or they’re probably going to draft a rookie on their roster. But what about the Seahawks? Are they ready to trade him?

Do Seahawks want to trade DK Metcalf?
The Seattle team has many reasons to stick with Metcalf in 2025. But, they do have a plenty of reasons to trade him as well. For starters, the guy’s a seasoned pass-catcher and he’s been with the Seahawks ever since they drafted him back in 2019 draft. Since then, Metcalf started every game that he played for the team, stacking up some of the best performance along the way.
In the last season, the WR was just shy of 1,000 yards on 66 receptions, and even racked up 5 touchdowns. BUT! His contract is arguably one of the reasons why a trade could happen. See, the Seahawks offered him a three-year contract extension worth $72M back in 2022. That said, the WR will now enter the final year of his contract in 2025.
However, Metcalf is currently scheduled to have a cap hit over $31M in the 2025 season. That means if the Seattle team decides to trade him, it would clear almost $11M from their cap space (Metcalf’s dead cap is over $20M). So, if the team doesn’t want to offer him a contract extension, then trading him is the best option they have.

Plus, the Packers already have an offer on the table for him and they currently have a pretty sweet salary cap space in 2025. If the Seahawks trade Metcalf, then the Green Bay team and the WR could figure out a way to sign a new multi-year deal. At the end of the day, one thing’s certain: whether in Green Bay or in Seattle, DK Metcalf’s future is pretty safe in the NFL.
