Just when you thought this Aaron Rodgers saga might be reaching its conclusion—BAM! Another plot twist. It’s like a never-ending episode of a wild reality TV show that has its fair share of twists and turns but no climax. At 41, Rodgers is still the front and center of NFL rumors and guess what? It’s still evolving, unlike Rodgers’ game. So, what’s the latest scoop on the 4-time NFL MVP for whom retirement is probably just one year away?
Well, it’s the New Yorkers again knocking on Rodgers’ door. Nope, not the ones who call themselves the Gang Green. It’s the G-Men of New York still holding the Big Blues in hopes of getting some attention. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo still believes the Giants’ pursuit of Rodgers hasn’t slowed down one bit, even after they signed Jameis Winston.
Re-tweeting a post about Jameis Winston’s move to Giants from his fellow NFL Network insider, Tom Pelissero, Garafolo wrote, “This does not change the Giants’ pursuit of Aaron Rodgers or alter any other possible QB routes.” He thinks Winston’s arrival in the Big Apple is “Just getting a veteran QB under contract in a QB room that only had Tommy DeVito coming into the day.” See, Garafolo’s update on Rodgers to the Giants might seem too good to be true. But actually, there’s some weightage in his report. Just look at Winston’s contract with the Giants.

Only $8M for 2 years with incentives taking the total up to $16M. Albeit having a base price of just $4M per season. To be honest, those aren’t the financials of an NFL starting QB. Like Winston’s average salary is even lower than what the Giants used to give their previous backups. Drew Lock $5M and Tyrod Taylor $7M. Seeing the Giants are paying Winston backup wages in peanuts. You can’t ignore the possibility of them still looking for a veteran starter, right?
Aaron Rodgers is still available in the market. Yes, he went to Pittsburgh and flirted with their front office for 6 hours. Still, he didn’t get his deal, so that’s still a positive for the Giants. Maybe they could come barging with a sweet deal for Rodgers and sweep him from under the nose of the Steelers. There’s still a real possibility of this happening, you know. But are the Steelers really going to let it happen? I mean, they are already out there breaking traditions and making sacrifices to get Rodgers.

Steelers break tradition to get an edge in Aaron Rodgers offseason saga
The moment Rodgers saw his dream of being a Viking wouldn’t be coming true. He probably thought, why not give it up and move on like a professional? And just like that, within 48 hours of the news that the Vikings aren’t pursuing Rodgers. He suddenly came out of his cave and didn’t just answer the Steelers’ calls. Rodgers took a leap and air-dropped in the Steelers facility. And apparently, the day he chose collided with something the Steelers weren’t expected to miss.
What’s your perspective on:
Will the Giants' pursuit of Rodgers finally pay off, or are the Steelers too determined to lose?

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler gave a shocking revelation that showed Rodgers still carries a lot of aura around himself. “I was told the Steelers wanted to make this meeting happen so much, they skipped Michigan’s Pro Day yesterday. Which, if you know the Steelers, that’s a big deal. The whole contingent goes to every big Pro Day, so they stood in town to meet with them,” Fowler shared. See Steelers GM Omar Khan, head coach Mike Tomlin and even OC Arthur Smith may have remained in Pittsburgh to sit with Rodgers. But the Steelers were already two steps ahead.

So what, most of their top brass couldn’t go to Michigan’s Pro Day? At least they sent their DC, Teryl Austin, to check out Mason Graham’s partner in the Wolverines’ D-line. I guess you know whom I am talking about here. It’s Michigan’s big man, DT Kenneth Grant. Coming off 3 sacks, two fumble recoveries and 5 passes defended in 2024. Grant is expected to be picked in the top 20 in this year’s draft in Indy. With the Steelers having the No.21 pick to themselves, it’s almost certain they will use it on Grant.
So, meeting Rodgers wasn’t a complete sacrifice of Michigan’s Pro Day. The Steelers did have their bases covered. But the question is, after going above and beyond for Rodgers. Can they really get him at the end of the day? Giants are still circling, and the Vikings—well, they are just waiting for others to fall. This means this Aaron Rodgers saga is far from reaching its climax just yet.
