“If Pittsburgh doesn’t get Aaron Rodgers they’ve gotta do a lot of homework on these QBs in the draft.” Pat McAfee highlighted a very accurate situation for Mike Tomlin’s team. We all know that the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed back Mason Rudolph as their QB. But keeping Rudolph the only reliable and healthy quarterback and hoping they could win multiple playoffs, seems quite difficult for the franchise. Hence, they are in need of a backup or a starter, whatever Tomlin decides. But one thing is likely – they might have to deal with Aaron Glenn and the New York Jets for any move they wish. How?
Well, we all know that Aaron Rodgers, who is a fresh-off released player by the Jets, has been seen as a strong contender for the Steelers’ quarterback role. But Mike Tomlin and the team are yet to decide things on him. So, if they are not willing to make any move on Rodgers, how about drafting a QB? Well, that seems a good option too in terms of their future. But as we mentioned, Tomlin will have to battle with the Jets!
This is because, as per NFL Rumors on X, “The #Jets and #Steelers are very high on Old Miss QB Jaxson Dart.” Besides Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, who are considered the potential top picks of the NFL Draft, Dart is another QB who could surprise on Day 1.

Mike Tomlin and the Steelers are in dire need of a QB. They have the 21st pick in the first round. And according to experts, they are favored to select Dart. The reason is obviously his standout performance in college, his great leadership and mobility. In addition, this young player has also surpassed Eli Manning’s yardage record at the university.
Last year, Jaxson Dart led the SEC with 4,729 yards and had 29 touchdown passes. Hence, many teams, but most particularly, the Steelers and Jets are eyeing for him. New York has landed Justin Fields for their potential starting role, but who could be a greater backup for the team than Dart? So, the conflict will be on in the NFL Draft for both of the team, as Mike Tomlin is yet to decide on Jets’s released quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.
Why Mike Tomlin is in no hurry to sign Aaron Rodgers
Mike Tomlin and the Steelers are unsure about their quarterback scene. But still they are “fine” with waiting on veteran free agent Aaron Rodgers. Strange! But why? Is money the issue? Nah…. Money is apparently not an issue for them because they have nearly $64 million cap space left. Then why?
What’s your perspective on:
Should the Steelers gamble on Aaron Rodgers or invest in a young QB like Jaxson Dart?

According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, “Meanwhile, the New York Giants remain interested (in Rodgers), though I could see them adding a backup-type very soon, similar to Pittsburgh signing Mason Rudolph.” Probably, that’s the reason for their wait. But as of now, they are currently left with four options.
One – Start with former backup and new pick-up Mason Rudolph.
Two – Go ahead to sign with Aaron Rodgers from the market.
Three – Re-sign Russell Wilson and wait to see some potential positive results at the end, or,
Four – Draft QB like Jaxson Dart or Alabama’s Jalen Milroe, who had dinner in Tuscaloosa with Tomlin, GM Omar Khan and QBs coach Tom Arth on Tuesday. And then analyze where these young QBs are at the moment for the team.
Whatever the option Mike Tomlin picks, he has to make sure that decision should come out as fruitful for the team. Or else, he will have to face the questions that would provoke him to leave the podium again and again.
