While the Super Bowl is now with the NFC, the AFC is the place where the most popular quarterbacks play. Be it Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs), Josh Allen (Bills), Lamar Jackson (Ravens), or Joe Burrow (Bengals). Not in the league, but they also fight for respect and wins among themselves. That’s what separates them from everything else in the NFL. Amid all this, the Bill signed a record-setting 6-year $330 million deal with their signal caller.

Speaking on the March 10 episode of The Rich Eisen Show, PFT’s Mike Florio talked about the competition. He said, ” They all pay attention to these deals and when a big one happens, watch for Burrow to maybe get some sort of an adjustment, especially Mahomes. He’s got that ultra-long-term deal. But they’ve been moving cash into the short term to give him cash flow. That’s the key for quarterbacks. What’s your four-year cash flow? Allen now has the record at 220 million. Mahomes and Burrow are going to want to pass the 220 million that Allen has,” discussing numbers of all the big QBs.

Out of all four quarterbacks in the AFC, Patrick Mahomes holds the most weight. In eight seasons, he has won three Super Bowls, and the Chiefs currently have him on a 10-year, $450 million deal. But as Mike Florio pointed out, he has achieved considerable success. They will have to look out for another deal.

Things are a little tricky for Joe Burrow at Bengals. He signed a five-year $273 million contract in 2023. But they altered his deal to make space for other players like Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Also, if we consider this year, Josh Allen won the MVP award, and Mahomes lost in the Super Bowl 59 against the Eagles, but Joe couldn’t even take his team into the playoffs.

Florio also considered this factor and added, “

Mahomes has the argument for it because Mahomes is the guy that keeps Josh Allen in the bills from going to the Super Bowl.” That’s 100% true. But the Bills didn’t think about it. Maybe it’s their way of giving him some extra motivation to cross the final block zone (Chiefs).

Bills sign Josh Allen to a $330 million deal

The NFL insider sent shockwaves through the league by announcing a record-breaking deal with the highest guaranteed amount—$250 million. Josh Allen has signed a six-year, $330 million contract, averaging $55 million per year. Well, they had to after the 2024 heroics.

Last year, Mr. January went on a record-breaking spree. His passer rating (119.4) was 4th in the league. Only Aaron Rodgers, with more ratings in 2011 (122.5) and 2020 (121.5), and Peyton Manning in 2004 (121.1) were ahead of him. Also, he showed off his abilities as a dual-threat quarterback. In the week 14 game against the LA Rams, he became the first player in modern history to score 3 passing and 3 rushing touchdowns.

He single-handedly took them into the AFC Championships, which they lost by 3 points, 29-32. But the AFC East has also taken a tremendous risk by signing such a big contract. We’ll see how they manage it over the next few years.
