Well, it’s basically a National Football League disaster how far the Browns dug deep to land Deshaun Watson. They fought off the likes of the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers to win Watson’s signature. At that time, it seemed like they had just won a war, considering 4 teams were auctioning for Watson. However, now that the trade has flopped completely, those picks Cleveland gave up to lure Watson away from Houston have sabotaged their franchise. And now they are also expecting some other franchise to do the same if they really want to get Myles Garrett.

That’s what Russini believes could bring the Browns to at least have conversations about trading their one-time Defensive Player of the Year. “I think we could see some movement if there is any if Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski wind up. Let’s say maybe taking a page out of the way, Houston did it with Deshaun Watson where it was essentially an auction, right? where it was everybody put together their best offers, and at the end they made a decision of okay, this is what we’re going to do.” Considering Garett’s numbers, teams could actually give up a lot to bring the star pass-rusher into their city.

In his 8 seasons at Cleveland, Garrett has over 100 sacks, over 350 combined tackles, and 20 forced fumbles. So, it’s not like he doesn’t bring something extraordinary to the table. Maybe it won’t be like the Watson trade, where the Browns basically emptied their house, giving up a slew of first-round and second-picks (third-round and fourth-round also). However, they could really cash in on Garrett while he is still hot in the market. See, this would probably be a sacrifice for the greater good. Yes, they will miss their star pass-rusher. But at least they can address some holes in their roster. Because it’s a team game at the end of the day. And holding on to one player when you still don’t have a QB would be very amateurish.
