During free agency ahead of the 2025 Draft, the Browns are in the best position. In the draft, positioned 2nd between the Titans (1st) and Giants (3rd), they could disrupt plans by selecting either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders at quarterback. If head coach Kevin Stefanski chooses not to go that route, he could opt for a signal-caller in free agency. With mystery surrounding their primary QB, Deshaun Watson, as he recovers from right Achilles tendon surgery, what could their choice for QB?

SI reporter Albert Breer made a surprising claim a few days back when he said, “I do think if the Browns decide to take Carter with the second pick [of the 2025 Draft], then Cousins would appeal to them, given the relationship the quarterback has with Kevin Stefanski from Minnesota.” The Browns’ HC was the Vikings‘ offensive coordinator in 2018 and 2019 when Cousins arrived there in 2018.

In fact, the 2019 season was their best as Kirk Cousins won his first playoff game with Kevin Stefanski on the sidelines as their OC. It remains the only postseason victory in the QB’s 13-year NFL career. The Browns have positive news: the Falcons are rumored to release or trade the quarterback. It could mean a reunion of the QB-HC.

After 1 year under Falcons HC Raheem Morris, Kirk Cousins couldn’t secure his place permanently in the roster. His 18-16 touchdown-interception ratio was alarming. For the Browns, this could be a blessing in disguise. The only other QB in their roster is 3-year veteran Kenny Pickett, with a 15-10 win-loss record. The chances are high that both sides will be excited about the potential of a trade. Kevin Stefanski would be more excited.

Amid all this hype about the quarterback, the Falcons are worried about the other departments. They want to fill any voids that could hurt them later.

Could Kirk Cousins' reunion with Kevin Stefanski be the Browns' ticket to playoff glory?

Raheem Morris goes international for placekicker

We all know the league isn’t just about America anymore. Every year, they take games all over the world. But that’s not the only way they’re expanding their reach—they’re also bringing in international players.

In February, at the combine in Indianapolis, five players were invited through the NFL’s International Player Pathway program. One of them was kicker Lenny Krieg, who nailed all 14 of his attempts from 35-55 yards, instantly boosting his stock.

Meanwhile, the Falcons haven’t confirmed the rumor about QB Kirk Cousins heading to Kevin Stefanski, but they did lock in Krieg with a three-year deal with a guaranteed base salary and a signing bonus. As for Krieg, he previously played in Europe for the EFL’s Stuttgart Surge, where he hit 11 of 16 field goals (68.8%) in 2025.

@NFL_DovKleiman on XJust like all the other positions, there is competition for the kicker position in the Falcons. In the 2024 season, kicker Younghoe Koo had his worst season with 25 of 34 FGs (73.5%) since 2019 when he joined the Falcons. The coach remarked, “We missed entirely too many kicks this year. The brutal honest truth — that can’t happen,” after they ended their season with an 8-9 record. With rumors of QB trade, there could be more complications.

If Kevin Stefanski somehow poaches the signal-caller, things could get even worse for the franchise. They need to make their decisions very carefully. There’s also a wild scenario that could play out—the Falcons might try to swap their first-round pick (15th) with the Browns. That would be mind-boggling.
