Things are getting heated up for the Atlanta Falcons as they try to give Bill Belichick the stage again. Earlier, it was rumored that Bill Belichick met the Falcons’ owner, Arthur Blank, on his yacht, and the NFL community was excited about what would come next. The Falcons have confirmed their interest in the six-time Super Bowl-winning coach today.
A report from Ian Rapoport sheds some light on the Atlanta Falcons’ empty head-coaching position. It might not be long before the Falcons employ a leading-class head coach to re-live their Super Bowl dreams again, perhaps winning it this time. Currently, the Falcons can just hope Belichick’s joining will turn things around for them.

Rapoport’s post on X was captioned, “From@NFLTotalAccess: The #Falcons will give a second interview to former #Patriots coach Bill Belichick.” He talked about how the Atlanta Falcons are ready to have another meeting with the former Pats’ head coach. The second interview would take place over the weekend. Earlier, Belichick just met with Arthur Blank, but this time, the Falcons’ stakeholders will also be present to hear what Belichick has to offer.

Per Rapoport, the Falcons’ CEO Richard James McKay and the GM Terry Fontenot would also be present in the meeting to hear Belichick make a case for himself. Rapoport added that this connection is a byproduct of a mutual interest that the Falcons and Belichick have in each other. Both parties might look into each other’s resumé before announcing a collaboration.
The reporter also pointed out how it would be a straightforward decision for Belichick because the team had already made it to a Super Bowl in 2017. However, they lost. But the former Patriots’ head coach might have a trick or two to turn the franchise around. The team finished its season with a 7-10 record and is due to have the No. 8 overall pick in the upcoming draft.

Why would Belichick join the Falcons?
Belichick appears to have a good relationship with Arthur Blank. This is as good as it gets for Belichick because other vacancies like the one in Philly might not be in Belichick’s best interest because he apparently doesn’t share a rapport with them. A post from Josina Anderson of CBS makes a convincing case about why the Falcons are the best choice for Belichick.

Barring a snag in negotiations or a future development (still have to get a signature), I’m expecting Bill Belichick to become the next head coach of the NFC South* Atlanta Falcons. The 71-year-old might reunite with his former staff, making things easier for him in the long run. The thing is, Belichick was the head coach and the general manager for the Patriots, and he might not get the same deal with the Falcons. But in effect, this makes his job much easier, and he can focus on winning games alone.
