Ever since the news of the Jets “moving in a different direction at QB” dropped, Aaron Rodgers has found himself at the forefront of NFL rumors. Like it’s the offseason rumor mills are on full flow. And Rodgers, for one, leads the charge with certain franchises that are still looking to address their QB situation. See, there’s no guarantee yet that Rodgers will come back for another season at age 41. So, until he addresses his future himself, the Indianapolis Colts might have taken a keen interest in bringing the 4-time NFL MVP to the fold.

There’s a certain expectation around Indy that Aaron Rodgers could be a great choice for competition with Anthony Richardson. Actually, the thing is Richardson, who is still only 22, would be entering his third season in the league. And in his first two, the Colts QB has failed to live up to his hype. Selected by the Colts as their 4th overall pick in 2023. Richardson only managed to start four games in his rookie year. There were some occasional flashes of brilliance when he became the first rookie QB to score a rushing TD in just his 3rd start.

However, that’s it. Then, Richardson suffered an AC joint sprain in week 5, which sidelined him for the remainder of his rookie year. Even this year, injuries continued to plague his time on the gridiron. He did start the season but went on to miss a couple of games through an oblique injury. And don’t forget his lack of professionalism in week 8 when he took himself out of the game for a quick breather. Those moments even led to him getting benched for two weeks while returning soon after. So, can Rodgers really be a great fit in place of Richardson?

See, it’s not like the numbers aren’t there for Rodgers. Returning from an ACL tear, he finished the season with 3,897 passing yards, 28 TDs, and a 63% completion rate. He didn’t miss a single game, unlike Richardson, even at the age of 41. But there’s always that risk of injuries. And you can’t say Rodgers is immune to one. What if his Jets’ bad luck strikes again the moment he debuts for the Colts? Just imagine being out for the season after just 4 snaps. Well, this is something the Colts would surely like to avoid.

However, you can’t push aside Rodgers’ experience, which can be handy for Indy. But the Colts probably won’t have a clear shot at signing Rodgers. Their AFC South rivals, the Tennessee Titans have also jumped into the wagon to make Rodgers their next QB.

Titans ready to give Colts some tough competition in their quest to sign Aaron Rodgers

There’s a reason why the Titans have the No.1 overall pick for next season. Only 3 wins out of 17 games with Will Levis and Mason Rudolph as QBs have got the Titans thinking about what’s next. See, they can just easily go ahead and pick Miami’s Cam Ward or Colorado’s Sheduer Sanders to address their QB room. However, if they don’t want to take that route for whatever reason, that could be. Tennessee could take their chances by bringing Rodgers to Nashville.

Can Aaron Rodgers really save the Colts, or is he just a temporary fix for their QB woes?

Have an interesting take?

ESPN analyst Ben Solak was the first one to point out a possible interest from the Titans in signing Rodgers. “I like Rodgers to the Titans. Coach Brian Callahan, who cut his teeth with Peyton Manning before coaching Joe Burrow, seems like the sort of guy to fall for Rodgers mental ability.” Here’s the thing: Callahan was part of the Broncos staff when Manning led them to Super Bowl 50 glory. Then he also spent north of five seasons with the Bengals as their OC. So, those connections of working with elite QBs may urge Callahan to try his hands on Rodgers. Like for sure, Rodgers can’t do any worse than the Titans were before him.

They ranked 27th in scoring offense and 26th in yards gained. So they can clearly take their chances on Rodgers, who deserves to go out on a high after his Jets divorce.
