About six months ago, Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets had one narrative about them. They had too many mouths to feed, due to their arguably many playmakers on offense. But when it was asked whom the former Jets’ QB would want to pass to, especially after wide receiver Davante Adams’ entry, he had an interesting answer: “The most important thing is winning. I throw it to the open guy.” Wow, that sounded so simple for the Gang Green until we saw them put up a devastating 5-12 record. This proved that they lack solid pass-catching talent. So, maybe this draft might come as a help for newly appointed HC Aaron Glenn’s team.

The Jets are undoubtedly on an overhaul. They have changed their starting quarterback from Rodgers to Justin Fields. And even moved from Robert Saleh and Jeff Ulbrich to hire a new head coach, Aaron Glenn. Now, it is the turn to fix the roster issues, as they start from the tight end position. So, who are they eyeing?

According to NFL Rumors on X, “#Jets have done a lot of homework on Penn State TE Tyler Warren. The team has a big hole at TE.” No doubt, the Jets are in trouble, and they are eager to fix their damaged status. Just recently, Aaron Glenn’s team parted ways with Davante Adams and tight end Tyler Conklin. So, to fill the gap left by Conklin, is Warren a good piece?

The Jets have a Round 1, Pick 7 in this year’s NFL Draft. And as all signs are pointing one way, Glenn’s team wants offense at No. 7. According to many analysts, they have three names circled – Will Campbell, Armand Membou, and Tyler Warren. Now, Campbell and Membou might be long gone by the time New York’s on the clock. However, Warren might come up at the right time for them.

Tyler Warren is 6’6″, 256 pounds, and plays like he’s built for football. At Penn State, the tight end put up numbers – 104 catches, over 1,200 yards, eight touchdowns. And he made it look easy, with a big frame, smooth routes, and strong hands. It’s like you line him up, and defenses start sweating. Mel Kiper, too, feels the same, who once said, “With a dual-threat quarterback now in Justin Fields, and to have a guy like Tyler Warren in there as well, it would really, I think, give defensive coordinators a lot to worry about.”

Till now, Warren has covered 1,839 yards, recording 19 touchdowns in total of his four years at college. So, now with Tyler Conklin out of the picture, the Jets need someone who can step in and own that space. And Warren could be that one man. Even Justin Fields could use a weapon like that. Someone who fights for the football and brings the middle of the field back to life. Hence, let’s see if Aaron Glenn calls this young TE for more pass-catching help around the team’s offense.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Tyler Warren be the game-changer the Jets desperately need to turn their season around?

Have an interesting take?

Aaron Glenn is confident about one player on his team

Aaron Glenn’s team is rebuilding. However, they are still in a shaky state. Only two players on the roster scored more than once last season – Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard. That’s it! In particular, Wilson recorded three straight 1,000-yard seasons. He’s the heartbeat of that offense. Hence, the coach believes in him the most. During an interview, he expressed, “When it comes to Garrett, we all know what Garrett can do. Garrett is a dynamic player, so I’m looking forward to being able to get him the ball as much as possible.

No doubt, Wilson’s the one bright spot the Jets can truly count on. He’s only 25, already proven, and still getting better. But let’s not kid ourselves, he can’t carry this offense alone. Hence, they’re putting a lot on Josh Reynolds, hoping his size and grit give them something extra, especially in the run game. Glenn knows what Reynolds can do – he coached him in Detroit when Reynolds had one of his best years. The belief is, if Reynolds blocks, he’ll get the rock. That’s the mindset. But then there’s Allen Lazard, who is big but way too inconsistent. He had seven drops last year. And that’s tough to ignore.

Now look at the younger group. Xavier Gipson has barely touched the football as he recorded just six catches last season. In addition, Malachi Corley, who’s got potential, is currently remembered best for his Halloween blunder, where he dropped the ball before crossing the goal line.

Then comes the tight end position. It’s even more shaky. Jeremy Ruckert hasn’t made much noise – no touchdowns, barely any looks. This has to be his moment. So, the truth is the Jets aren’t done. Wilson needs help and QB Justin Fields needs weapons. Right now, there are way too many question marks and not enough answers for Aaron Glenn’s team. Tyler Warren would be a statement with an exclamation mark.
