With multiple duties on hand for the modern RB, it is tough to judge the worth of a player with just one statistic. An overall look is necessary to determine the best running backs. And that is exactly what we’ve done. So with further ado, here are the top 5 Running Backs this season:
Christian McCaffrey–49ers
Not long ago the 49ers’ RB was hot in contention for the MVP this season. And very few could disagree with the choice on the back of the season he is having. With 1,395 yards under his boots, the 27-year-old has 14 TDs and 63 passes received on his name.
After coming off a loss against the Ravens, McCaffrey can be seen back on the field against the Commanders for the Week 17 matchup.
Kyren Williams–Rams
This youngster has wowed the entire league with his ferocious speed and tactical know-how. This gem for the Rams has rushed for 1,057 yards while making 9 TDs and 30 catches received. And the 23-year-old has done that in just 11 games, four less than everyone else on this list.
The Rams are still looking for a playoff spot. Last week’s win over the Saints has put them in a great position. If they claim a victory, this week against the Giants, they are almost guaranteed a playoff spot.
James Cook–Bills
The younger brother of fellow RB Dalvin Cook. In his second season since being drafted by the Bills, Cook has displayed an exemplary understanding of the game. His 1,038 yards are proof of that, though he lacks in TDs with just 2, the 24-year-old’s growing stature within the team is shown in 40 received catches.
The Bills are hunting for a playoff spot in the AFC. Their win against the Chargers has made things easier. However, they still need to win this week over the Patriots to clinch the playoffs.
Raheem Mostert–Dolphins
It’s a scary prospect for any team in the league to face the attack of the Dolphins. And Mostert’s quick feet, in combination with his power, is a rare example in RBs. The 31-year-old has covered 1,012 yards with an amazing 18 TDs and 25 received passes.
The Dolphins take on one of the most defensively sound teams in the entire league for their Week 17 matchup. As they face off with the Ravens in Baltimore.
