CJ Stroud played a stunning game against the Cleveland Browns in a wildcard clash. The fight to get a spot in the playoffs propelled Stroud to heights of popularity besides Dak Prescott. Amidst all other records, Stroud has broken Dak Prescott’s passer rating established in 2016.

With the Texans winning the game and Stroud taking them closer to the Super Bowl dream, matters appear to be all sorted for the side and their QB.

Per Holzman, CJ Stroud has the most passing yards (183) in the first half of the playoff game recorded since 1991. The play-by-play data recorded suggests that Dak Prescott held the record in 2016, and Brock Purdy in 2022. Both QBs managed to get 147 yards in the first half of the game. This tweet came out when there were 11 minutes left in the second quarter.

After some time passed, Holzman made another tweet updating every one of Stroud’s passing prowess. With two minutes left in the second quarter, the Texans QB had amassed 199 passing yards. The Texans pulverized the Browns’ notorious defense and forced them to give away more than 200 passing yards till the end of the first half of the game itself.

As far as the Browns’ season is concerned, the team gave away an average of 164.7 yards per game this season, making matters slightly easier and achievable for their opposition. Reaching a dominant lead, the path of a comeback became harder for the Browns, allowing the Texans’ offensive side to assert an overall staggering performance.

Houston’s QB overshadowed the Cleveland team

Thanks to CJ Stroud, the Texans overpowered the Cleveland Browns throughout the wildcard game. The QB threw 3 touchdowns and had 274 passing yards to his name overall. Stroud achieved 76.2% completed passes with 16 out of his 21 attempts being successful.
The first TD came at the end of the first quarter when Stroud threw a 15-yard pass to Nico Collins, adding to Fairbairn’s 21-yard field goal. The second TD was a whopping 76-yard TD pass from Stroud to Brevin Jordan in the second quarter with 12 minutes left on the clock. Stroud’s final TD was a 37-yard pass to Dalton Schultz with 1:11 left on the clock.
