Well, folks, it seems like New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave got himself into a bit of a pickle with the law. A video showing Olave getting arrested for driving faster than the allowed speed limit has been made public. The police in Kenner arrested him on Monday night, although he told them he plays for the Saints. But was he practicing NFL or NFS on Monday night?
The Kenner Police Department has made public a video from a police officer’s body camera. That was not all! Five other players from the NFL have been caught for breaking the rules related to speeding while driving. Need for Speed got them caught for speeding infractions.

Speedy WR Olave was caught doing 70 in a 35 zone, which is twice the legal limit. Olave tried to introduce himself as the Saints WR, but it didn’t quite cut it with the officer. In the video, the officer wanted his ID for quicker processing. It looks like even NFL stars can’t escape the long arm of the law!
Footage of Saints WR Chris Olave’s arrest for going at least 35 miles per hour over the allowed speed has been released via JPAFootball report. In the WWLTV video, Chris Olave can be heard telling the officer: “I play for the Saints, man.”

Eventually, officers got his info for processing. In the end, 23 YO WR was clocked at 80, but they settled on 70. He handed over some belongings for safekeeping. In that clip, he appeared to feel sorry, “That’s on me. I was just trying to get home.” Olave, per Kenner PD, faced a reckless driving charge. He was released at 11:30 PM.
Five other key players, Sam Montgomery, Marquise Brown, Sheldon Richardson, Jordan Addison, and J.C. Jackson, faced penalties for their need for speed in the NFL world.
Minnesota Vikings’ 21 YO Jordan Addison’s dog emergency
The fresh-faced rookie with the Minnesota Vikings found himself in hot water this past July. Jordan Addison was nabbed zooming at an eye-popping 140 mph on eastbound Interstate 94 in St. Paul, Minnesota, where the limit was just a humble 55 mph. That’s not all, though.

The rookie WR also got slapped with a reckless driving charge and a ticket for willfully taking an unwarranted risk. His excuse? Something about a doggy emergency. “His dog was having an emergency at his residence,” per Fox9 reports.
In August 2023, Addison ‘fessed up to a misdemeanor speeding rap, coughing up $686 and dodging that reckless driving charge. Lesson learned, everyone hopes!
Arizona Cardinals WR Marquise Brown’s speed test
2023, on and off the field, better be smoother for the Cardinals WR. Because last year, Marquise Brown got busted for speeding due to no good reason. Zooming at 126 mph in a 65 mph zone near I-17 and loop 101 last year. Police asked, “The hell you going that fast for?!” Handcuffs followed. Brown, new to the state, cited football practice as an excuse, “Sorry, I was on my way to football practice, sir.”
According to SI reports, the 26 YO WR’s car got towed. Reduced charge for speeding after a potential criminal case. The judge ditched the $473 fine and credited time served. Brown and Coach Kliff Kingsbury expressed remorse.
In ’19, Brown, Raven’s 1st-rounder, found a new nest in ’22 with Cards, trading pick magic on Draft Day 1, raising some desert dust with the 23rd pick swap.
Super Bowl LIII champion J.C. Jackson didn’t show up in court
J.C. Jackson, the Patriots’ cornerback, got in hot water with speeding and court appearances. In 2021, he got slapped with a speeding and reckless driving charge in Massachusetts, where he was ordered to do a reckless driver class and pay a $300 fine. But the Super Bowl champion (LIII) champion didn’t follow through, missing both the program and the fine.

Come September 2023, per ESPN, a warrant was out for his arrest when 27 YO didn’t show up in court for the same charges. As of now, the Chargers have not taken any disciplinary action against him. It’s worth noting that recently he was traded to the Patriots and signed an $82.5 million contract with the Chargers in 2022.
Free agent DT Sheldon Richardson learned his speed lesson
Former New York Jets‘ Sheldon Richardson, an ex-Missouri standout, dodged a jail stint in 2015. Following a high-speed (up to 143 mph) chase near his off-season residence, he got slapped with two years of probation, 100 hours of community service, and a $1,050 fine.

Per NFL reports, the charges ranged from resisting arrest to speeding and running red lights. If he plays it straight, the most serious charge could be wiped from the DT’s record. Despite his NFL suspension, further league discipline seems unlikely, but Richardson’s learned his lesson, trading his Bentley Silver Spur for a Chevy Tahoe SUV.
Sheldon Richardson’s NFL journey: Jets ’13-’16, Seahawks ’17, Vikings ’18, and ’21, Browns ’19-’20. His path’s a gridiron tale, full of hits, sacks, and a second Minnesota stint.
Misconduct with ex-Cincinnati Bengals DL Sam Montgomery
In 2014, NFL former defensive lineman Sam Montgomery faced an unjust arrest in South Carolina. The state trooper, Lance Cpl. R.S. Salter, got the boot for his misconduct during a traffic stop. Salter not only clocked Montgomery speeding but also threatened to use a Taser. Per the USA Today report, Salter warned on the tape, “The next thing you’re going to get is the Taser.” In response, Montgomery calmly replied, “Whoa, I’m not trying to cause problems.”

Salter’s actions were found to be unprofessional and inappropriate, leading to his suspension and eventual firing. The trooper’s behavior was inconsistent with his training. His comment, “NFL, you are under arrest,” indicated bias against Montgomery’s NFL status. Montgomery, in contrast, “Trying to get home. I’ll take the lick. I was wrong.” He was cooperative and accepted responsibility for his actions.
Montgomery joined the Cincinnati Bengals in 2014, finding a home on their practice squad, but in 2015, he left the jungle as the Bengals released him.
