Can the Ravens handle the heat, or will the Chiefs dominate in Week One?

On 5th September 2024, two powerhouse teams will clash in what could be one of the best opening night games we’ll see in a while. That’s right, it’s the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Ravens. Expect some tension to rise with the heat of the competition. But, let’s be real, weather is always a big factor in any game. Remember the heated debate between the Eagles and Packers about playing in Brazil? That was all because of the extreme temperatures there.

Now, the Super Bowl champs, the Chiefs, are going to host the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium for the 2024 NFL season opener. The match is scheduled at 8:20 PM (ET) on Thursday, September 5th. But the big question is, will the weather affect this game?

As per experts, the weather is expected to be cold from the northwest, reaching Missouri by the afternoon. It will slowly pass through Kanas city in the evening and overnight. There are expectations of showers and thunderstorms starting in the afternoon and continuing through the night. The weather service predicted a 30% chance of rain in the north and central parts of the City.

Thankfully, at the 7:20 p.m. kickoff between the Chiefs and Ravens, temperatures are expected to be around the mid-80s. But, the lightning and wind gusts over 30 mph might be a concern. Especially because even though the chances of storm disrupting the game are less, the exports predicted it might happen.

Usually, the weather doesn’t matter much unless it’s extreme. For this match, we won’t see rain, wind, snow, or excessive heat. So, the weather won’t have an impact on the game at all. With clear skies and mild temperatures, the game planning stays the same. Just the usual tactics and play calls for better performance.

Have an interesting take?

The weather service says temperatures Friday afternoon will reach the low to mid-70s north of I-70, and slightly warmer to the south. “Saturday is going to feel like fall with afternoon highs in the low to mid-70s, and dew points in the 40s will keep things cool and dry.” And it is the same for Sunday and Monday as winds shift to the south with the possibility of 70s on Sunday, then 80s on Monday.

Another thing experts said was, “All in all, it should be a great weekend for any outdoor activities or plans.” But it’s not only for the team to take it as a sign that watching the Ravens-Chiefs game will be a breeze. The game will also be nationally televised on NBC, with Mike Tirico, Chris Collinsworth, and Melissa Stark on the call. If you are a Chief or Baltimore fan, tune into WBAL Channel 11 to watch.
