Could Tyreek Hill's return to the Chiefs be the missing piece for another Super Bowl run?

Is Tyreek Hill really returning to his former team, the Chiefs? Well! Nobody knows, but rumors are spreading like wildfire. The Dolphins trading their captain may sound unusual, but the likelihood of this occurring has grown tremendously in recent weeks. What is the reason you asked? For the time being, the Chiefs do not have a main wide receiver which is why they are looking for one. But can this dream trade materialize? Let’s take a look at some recent evidence of this possible trade.

For those who are unaware, the expectations around this deal have recently escalated due to the WR himself. Tyreek Hill’s recent social media activities are the reason. Actually, the WR turned to Snapchat and posted some intriguing snap stories. These stories contained video footage from his tenure with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Hill may have used these stories to hint at what was going on behind the scenes with both teams. In addition to all of these speculations and snap stories, an NFL Insider has also disclosed a significant update. These insider reports disclose how much money the teams have on hand right now which is pretty important for a trade like this. First and foremost, is it possible to do this deal if desired by the teams? Actually, absolutely, but it will require extra work on the part of the Miami Dolphins. For those who do not know, the WR’s base salary is $1,210,000 which may become a problem.

According to the NFLPA, the Dolphins now have $6 million in leftover cap space for 2024. If this deal goes through, it will result in a $11.9 million dead cap hit this year and a $19.3 million dead cap hit next year. However, the deal would save up $8.4 million in 2025 cap space, since Hill would have cost the Dolphins $27.7 million next year if he had stayed with the team.

This means that Dolphins with some effort can do the trade. But do the Chiefs have that type of money for this trade?

The Kansas City Chiefs can actually have Tyreek Hill on their squad

What’s your perspective on:

Could Tyreek Hill's return to the Chiefs be the missing piece for another Super Bowl run?

Have an interesting take?

The Chiefs have more than enough room in their budget to absorb Tyreek Hill’s final $800,000 basic pay this year. And, with about $25 million in expected 2025 cap space, they would have little trouble fitting Hill’s $27.8 million in completely guaranteed 2025 salary into their budget.

This indicates that supporters may be ecstatic since it is fair to assume that this trade will take place. We all know that Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is in need of a talented wide receiver. There are very few wide receivers in the NFL who comprehend the strategies Mahomes employs on the field.

Now that Rashee Rice has been sidelined, the team may be looking for a solid wide receiver, with Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams being the most likely candidates. Only time will tell what the Chiefs plan to do with their wide receiver predicament. What are your opinions about this? Who do you think the Chiefs should look to trade for?
