In the NFL, star players usually secure the bag fast—unless they’re playing for the Cowboys, where contract talks move at dial-up internet speed. Right now, Dallas is playing a dangerous game with Micah Parsons, their defensive beast. You’d think they’d be throwing money at him, but nope. Despite Parsons absolutely wrecking offenses every week and even saying he’s down for a team-friendly deal, the Cowboys haven’t even sent over an official offer. And if they keep stalling? This is only gonna get way more expensive.

Parsons is heading into the last guaranteed year of his rookie contract, and while the Cowboys can hit the snooze button with a fifth-year option for 2025, that doesn’t mean he’s locked in forever. Jerry Jones and Parsons have chatted. As NFL Insider Jane Slater said, “As things stand with Micah Parsons. No new news. What I can tell you is Jerry and Micah have talked many times this offseason, but to say a contract offer has been extended to his representatives would be inaccurate.” What makes this even wilder? Parsons isn’t even trying to break the bank. He literally said, “I don’t need $40 million per year.” He just wants a fair deal that keeps the squad competitive. But somehow, Dallas is still moving like they’ve got all the time in the world.

And let’s be real—this isn’t new for the Cowboys. They fumbled Dak Prescott’s contract extension so badly. Initially, they wanted to pay him around $34.5 million per year on a five-year deal, but Dak wanted a shorter contract. They stalled, hit him with the franchise tag for $31.4 million in 2020, and by the time they finally paid up in 2021, they had to give him a four-year, $160 million deal—$40 million per year with $126 million guaranteed. That’s way more than they planned. Now, they’re stalling on Parsons like a glitchy Madden game, and if history repeats itself, they’ll be speedrunning their way into another overpriced contract they totally could’ve avoided.

Parsons has made it clear he wants to stay, but patience runs out really quicker than the last bus. He even said he’d take less money, he might have meant $30M, $20M, or even $10M if it meant playing alongside Myles Garrett. “I’d 100% take less to play with him,” he admitted. That’s how much he cares about winning. But all of that means nothing if Dallas doesn’t even start contract talks. His team is sitting there, ready to negotiate, and the Cowboys? Still on read.

Every day Dallas waits, they’re just making things messier. The clock’s ticking, and if Jerry Jones doesn’t get out of bed and snap out of it soon, this could go down as the contract fumble of the century—one they’ll be paying for in more ways than one.

Dallas might have found their next power back in young RB

The Cowboys are keeping their eyes on Miami running back Damien Martinez as a potential Day 2 pick in the NFL Draft. Martinez, who transferred from Oregon State, went off in 2024, racking up 1,002 rushing yards, 10 touchdowns, and a crazy 6.3 yards per carry. His biggest flex came in the Pop-Tarts Bowl, where he shredded defenses for 179 yards on just 14 carries. Yeah, the dude can ball. Dallas is looking for a strong, reliable RB, and if they can’t land Ashton Jeanty, Martinez might just be their guy.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Jerry Jones repeating the Dak Prescott mistake with Micah Parsons' contract situation?

Have an interesting take?

At 6 feet, 232 pounds, Martinez is built for the NFL. Martinez isn’t just a runner—he’s a human wrecking ball, demolishing defenders like he’s got beef with every guy on the field. His quick cuts and relentless drive turn each play into his personal masterpiece. Scouts can’t stop buzzing about his raw power and compact frame. Which makes him a secret weapon in a run-heavy offense like Dallas’s. He might not be all about breakneck speed, but he’s the unsung hero who racks up those gritty, game-changing yards.

If the Cowboys snag him, their backfield gets a massive upgrade. Picture a bruiser who thrives in short-yardage battles, easing the pressure off the passing game. Martinez is durable, consistent, and ready to go off at any moment, so if Dallas doesn’t lock him down, someone else will- no cap.
