It would seem like the New York Jets are finally giving up on Zach Wilson as they put him up for trade. At the start of the season, the quarterback was buried under expectations to do well and fill in the space for Aaron Rodgers. He couldn’t do it and got slandered left and right by the media.
It would seem like the QB needs to take a back seat for a while and learn to play the game under the best of teams. The lack of proper coaching is one of the main reasons Wilson couldn’t prosper this season. In the 12 games he played this year, he accounted for 2,271 yards and seven touchdowns. A segment on The Rich Eisen Show discussed what Wilson’s next move should look like.

The host discussed dejected QBs such as Mac Jones, Sam Darnold, and Zach Wilson. She asked Peter King where he thought these QBs would land next. King had an insightful answer. King pointed out how Zach Wilson, who general manager Joe Douglas said had been given the nod to trade, was handed out too much responsibility without having adequate experience to do so. He pointed out some places that might be a haven for the QB.
Per King, Zach Wilson and his agent should concentrate on teams like Sean McVay’s LA Rams, Matt La Fleur’s Packers, Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers, Mike McDaniels’ Dolphins, and Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs. King mentioned how Zach Wilson should agree to minimum pay wherever he finds a job and learn the tricks of the trade, even if it means being a 3rd string QB for the organization.
For now, Wilson should focus on improving as a quarterback to maintain his position in the league. However, Zach Wilson isn’t the one who is solely at fault here.
What led to the downfall of Zach Wilson?
Per a post on X, it was apparent that Wilson didn’t get proper coaching facilities to succeed: a bottom 5 OL, rookie offensive and defensive coaches, and a lack of good receivers. It’s only viable to think Wilson will do well if he plays under such regressive conditions.

This is the real Zach Wilson. It’s sickening that we gave this kid a bottom 5 OL, a rookie OC, a rookie HC, and only one solid WR 🤦🏻

Surprisingly, it was when Mecole Hardman played for the Jets and allegedly leaked their offensive plans to the Eagles and the Chiefs. Despite that, Zach Wilson could beat the Eagles and perform well against the Kansas City Chiefs. Another problem was that the Jets didn’t change their offensive schemes after Aaron Rodgers went down and kept Zach Wilson running plays designed for Rodgers.
