The New York Jets arguably had a terrible season last time with 7 wins and 10 losses. Trying to remove the strain from themselves, they now have been acquiring some good prospects or free agents this offseason. But are the problems resolved for the Jets, especially considering the franchise owner Woody Johnson’s rift rumors with head coach Robert Saleh?
A recent development has added more complexity to the chaotic offseason of the Jets. Colleen Wolfe from the NFL network shared information from an unnamed source claiming that Saleh and Johnson had a heated argument at league meetings in Orlando. However, within 24 hours, the owner released a firm statement denying the accusation, stating that it was “nonsense.” But was it actually “false?” NFL insiders delved deeper to analyze the reality, sharing their thoughts on the newly rumored rift in the Jets.

In a recent episode of The Colin Cowherd Podcast, host Colin Cowherd was joined by ‘3 & Out’ host John Middlekauff to discuss the latest news in the league. Talking about Woody Johnson and Robert Saleh’s recent rumored fight, Middlekauff suggested that without firsthand knowledge, it’s hard to know exactly what happened. However, he noted that sometimes in life, perception becomes reality.
Middlekauff expressed, “….if that would have been like John Lynch was yelling at Jed York, be like no way right or, Shawn McVey was arguing with Stan Kroenke like I don’t believe that, but when it’s the Jets, you’re like I could see that, right, 100% because Woody Johnson’s reputation is pretty well established kind of a crazy guy to work for, not an easy place to work for.”
He also mentioned the Jets’ poor win-loss record, indicating the pressure on everyone in the organization. The NFL insider further discusses the Jets’ recent struggles, particularly regarding their quarterback situation and injuries. Middlekauff emphasized how quickly things can change in football, especially when a team misses out on a quarterback. He referenced the Jets’ trade for Zach Wilson and subsequent injuries, noting that injuries can happen to anyone, regardless of age, such as with Aaron Rodgers.
Overall, 3 & Out host provided insights into the challenges faced by the Jets organization under Johnson’s ownership, particularly in light of recent developments. So, does that mean there is some bitterness between the two stakeholders, especially when Johnson is difficult to work under, as per Middlekauff?
Although it’s not clearly been revealed of any such heated argument between the two, other than Johnson, reporter Connor Hughes, refuted the same.

Woody Johnson strongly denied reports of a heated argument with coach Robert Saleh at the NFL owner’s meeting. The NFL network claimed that the dispute occurred during the meeting. Despite the Jets’ disappointing 7-10 season and Aaron Rodgers’ injury, Johnson dismissed the alleged altercation as false. Colleen Wolfe, who reported the argument, later apologized for the confusion, stating that she had received conflicting information.
Meanwhile, Connor Hughes of SNY also refuted the claim, asserting that he was present at the event and witnessed no such altercation. This means everything might be fine between the two. As the Jets aim to bolster their offense in the offseason, the focus remains on improving from their lackluster performance in the previous season. With Zach Wilson stepping in for injured Aaron Rodgers, the team struggled, highlighting the need for offensive reinforcements, and hence they have started making additions accordingly.
