Caleb Williams’ Bears are up for a big task in the upcoming off-season. And that is finding a good head coach. They fired Matt Eberflus after the week 13 loss against the Lions. However, the interim HC Thomas Brown failed to produce any magic for them with 3 losses. Obviously, the biggest issue remains finding a wonderful coach with leadership and a clear plan for their quarterback. But they have found someone who they think is suitable for the job.

According to the NFL Insider Albert Breer, Pete Carroll and the Bears have a mutual interest. While talking about it with Charissa Thompson, he said, “Yes, Pete Carroll has an interest in the coaching job.” However, prior to coach interviews, the former Seahawks coach alerted all 32 franchises with his mindset. Breer confirmed it and added, “I’m told he has informed all teams with openings, looking back into coaching in 2025.” But he also confirmed the Bears’ interest in him by adding, “Additionally, I’m told the Bears are interested in sitting down and talking to Carroll.

He might fulfill both criteria for the Bears. He brings in the leadership and unique game plan for Caleb Williams. His resume speaks for itself. With almost 2 decades of NFL experience and around a decade of college football experience, he might help to bridge the gap for the rookie quarterback to switch to the league’s fierce competition.

Having started his NFL coaching career in 1994 with the NY Jets, he even stayed at the New England Patriots from 1997 to 1999, taking them into playoffs twice. He then spent 10 years with the USC Trojans, achieving fame and a name in college football. However, his comeback with the Seattle Seahawks changed the NFL. In 2013, he won the franchise’s only Super Bowl (XLVIII).

Carroll joining Da Bears would be tremendous news for the franchise. Caleb Williams would definitely benefit from his experience. However, it’s a long shot. There are other excellent candidates too.

Albert Breer also revealed some other candidates who are interested in the Bears head coach job. While talking about it, he said, “Some other names to keep an eye on, Mike Vrabel and Aaron Glenn very clearly fit the ‘leader of the men’ mold. A couple guys that have connections with the organization, Cliff Kingsbury, off course coached Caleb Williams at USC, Brian Flores, college teammate of GM Ryan Poles, and there’s interim HC Thomas Brown.” That’s too many candidates.

However, Caleb Williams and overall Bears could benefit from Mike Vrabel, who brings in some seriousness and discipline in the locker room. But even the Jets want to have a talk with Vrabel so expect some competition there. It would be an intense offseason in 2025.

Aaron Glenn, the Detroit Lions defensive coordinator, also brings a serious work ethic. But the Bears need changes in their approach. It’s just a matter of a few weeks before the picture gets clear, as the teams would like to sort out their coaching teams on priority.
