It’s been a season to forget for the Chicago Bears, limping toward the finish line with a likely 4-13 or 5-12 record and a finale at Lambeau Field that feels more like a formality than a showdown. But before you write this one off, there’s still a flicker of intrigue. However, the real buzz in Chicago isn’t on the field; it’s in the front office. With the clock ticking on the regular season, an NFL insider has revealed Bears’ CEO Kevin Warren’s stand on the search for a new head coach.

Albert Breer had plenty to say on his show, The Breer Report, over on Sports Illustrated’s YouTube channel. While discussing Kevin Warren’s hunt for the next Bears head coach, Breer didn’t hold back.“I think the ownership has sort of structured. So, it’s clear that football operations are football operations. Ryan Poles will be running the search.” After revealing this very important information, Albert Breer added, “Kevin Warren’s gonna have a voice in the search. In the same way, George McCaskey gonna have a voice in search. But Ryan Poles is the guy who’s gonna run the search [for HC].”
The Chicago Bears are on the hunt for their next head coach, and the rumor mill is buzzing. Zac Robinson, the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons, is one of the top contenders. But he’s not the only one in the mix—Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores is also in the race, earning ‘strong reviews’ along the way.
Of course, this coaching shuffle started when the Bears parted ways with Matt Eberflus on Friday, November 29, 2024. Since then, interim head coach Brian Thomas has been holding down the fort. The question now is: who’s going to take the reins and finally get this team back on track?
Another big concern—and potential opportunity—for Kevin Warren and the Chicago Bears? The future of the quarterback position, especially with all the uncertainty surrounding Caleb Williams.
The Bears may start Caleb Williams for the Packers game

“As far as Caleb goes, as far as dialog about him not playing, that’s never come up or been talked about at all.” This is what Chicago Bears interim HC Brown said on the question of whether Caleb Williams will be playing against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Caleb Williams’ rookie season has been a whirlwind—and not the fun kind. As the No. 1 overall pick in 2024, he’s been sacked a jaw-dropping 67 times, a stat that reads more like a horror story than a headline. For most franchises, that level of punishment would be cause for panic, but the Bears are sticking with their guy. Locked into a four-year, $39 million deal, Williams remains the centerpiece of Chicago’s rebuild. It’s been rough, no doubt, but the Bears are betting big that their battered rookie will rise from the rubble stronger than ever.
As we said, the Bears can see an opportunity there. Thomas Brown has said the same but in his own fashion. “There’s an opportunity that’s not guaranteed. And I take it very seriously because opportunities aren’t guaranteed.” Now when the HC’s search is happening at a faster pace, having combat on both fronts cannot be an easy thing for the Chicago Bears and Kevin Warren.
