Did Hurricane Milton expose vulnerabilities in stadium infrastructure, or was it just a storm in a teacup?

Hurricane Milton is wreaking havoc. We saw it firsthand when the Buccaneers‘ Raymond James Stadium was filled with water. The situation was so intense that the field looked like an ocean. The stadium was serving as a base for the first responders. But the hurricane forced them to take shelter elsewhere. Now, we got confirmation.

Yes, the stadium was damaged. But there ain’t much to worry about. NFL insider Ian Rapoport tweeted that it only looked menacing. The stadium, the training field, and practicing room aren’t much damaged and would need minor work. However, there are still surveys being done. So anything can come to light anytime.

Hurricane Milton made its landfall in Tampa on the night of the 9th of October. It was dangerous and frightening. Winds between the range of 80-100 mph created a reverse storm surge. This brought water inside the city instead of waving it off to the oceans. However, the attempts to revive it have already started.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office announced that they have already deployed emergency personnel to avoid further damage. The hurricane has left destruction on its trail. President Biden recently claimed that this is the most dangerous hurricane of the last 100 years.

The Bucs are not fazed by this. They are already on to their next target.

When will the Buccaneers play again at Raymond James Stadium?

The coaching staff has 10 days to ready the stadium. The week 6 game against the Saints will be played at the Caesars Superdome. However, on October 21, 2024, they play at home against the Ravens. Hence, they will have to act fast. But everything depends on the weather for the next few days.

The University of South Florida football team was set to play against the University of South Florida football team on the 11th of October (Friday) at Raymond James Stadium. But the havoc has forced the officials to postpone the game till the 12th (Saturday) around 3:30 p.m. ET. Even then, the game will only be started after a thorough checking of the surroundings.

The hurricane has forced all sports to stop for some time. The Buccaneers have already traveled to New Orleans to prepare for the game. And they are practicing at Tulane University’s Yulman Stadium.
