Dallas Cowboys recently solved a problem that troubled them during the entire off-season. You guessed it right! It’s the wide receiver, CeeDee Lamb. He didn’t practice with the camp. At last, they signed a 4 year, $136 million contract extension with the WR. But it has begun a fresh problem. They haven’t signed a deal with their quarterback, Dak Prescott. With his teammate getting such a good deal, he can ask for a huge amount of money from Jerry Jones. An NFL insider thinks that.
Ian Rapoport talked about QB’s contract on the Good Morning Football show and said, “CeeDee Lamb got the bag yesterday. Massive, massive, contract extension. Cowboys now wrapped up one of their major contractual priorities yesterday means it time to turn their attention to the other one and of course. They have in fact been talking to Dak Prescott about a potential new deal. There’s still a chance that one gets done before the season.” Jerry Jones said during the off-season that they were working on a deal. But they have not settled with their QB. And now, the ball is in the quarterback’s field.
Suggesting that Prescott has the upper hand in the talks now, Rapoport added, “Complicating matters is that Dak Prescott probably has as much contract leverage as you could literally ever have, ever. He cannot be franchise tagged, he cannot be traded, he almost certainly going to be the highest paid quarterback in the NFL.” That’s a bold prediction. While the QB has the leverage now, Jones is shrewd. He will try his best to convince the signal caller to a reasonable amount. But things have become complicated now.

The NFL Insider is convinced that contract negotiations will not be simple for America’s Team. Adding that they will have to work fast if they want to keep the QB, he noted, “If he (Prescott) gets a deal, if he doesn’t take a deal, which he doesn’t have to. Probably the highest-profile free agent in history. That’s what the Cowboys are against. They are working. There’s still time for that, but certainly one of the biggest storylines heading into the season.” 24 hours after Jones’ U-turn in the Lamb deal, the rumors of QB’s deal getting signed soon are everywhere.

While fans were enjoying the return of their star WR, Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons called it a perfect deal for the athlete. He had predicted a deal with a $36 million yearly salary for the receiver. Lamb got a $34 million (yearly) deal. Close! Calling it a perfect move, he praised the WR on his podcast, The Edge, and said, “He’s not just a top player; he’s an even better teammate. This is the kind of move that strengthens our locker room and keeps us united as we chase that championship.” While teammates are happy, some naysayers doubt if he is in game form.
He’ll be soon in action. The Cowboys begin their season against the Cleveland Browns on September 8. Can they win the Super Bowl? Fans haven’t seen the ultimate victory for close to 3 decades now.
