Another injury plagued the Jags. This time, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence seemed to injure his right ankle in the fourth quarter of Monday night football game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Lawrence was leading his team with the score tied at 28 each when he was tackled behind the line of scrimmage by Bengals’ left tackle Walker Little. During this, he twisted his right leg, injuring his ankle, and possibly even his knee at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville.

Trevor Lawrence is ruled out for sure!

Trevor Lawrence appeared to have a serious injury in his right leg ankle. During a crucial third down in Cincinnati’s red zone, the QB’s right ankle was stepped on by Bengals’ left tackle Walker Little, causing his leg to twist as he went down. He remained on the ground for a while, struggled to get up, and when he was unable to, he expressed his frustration by punching the turf and throwing the helmet. Watch the video here!

Furthermore, he had to be helped to the locker room with just over four minutes left on the clock, depicting how serious his injury was. It seems likely that he is out for the day, and probably for the upcoming games as well. If Lawrence’s injury comes out to be severe, it could have a major impact on the AFC playoff race. Before this game, they had a 99% chance to make it to the playoffs, as they held a record of eight wins and three losses this season. However, if the wins are not maintained, they could lose the spot. Former 49ers reserve C.J. Beathard has replaced Lawrence. Beathard has been his backup since 2021.

Meanwhile, Jaguars’ Christian Kirk (groin), and Tre Herndon (concussion) also exited the game with injuries before the second half. With Lawrence’s injury, the game went into overtime tied at 31 each. Now, as per the OT final scores, the Bengals successfully secured the victory 34-31 against the Jaguars. This loss after Lawrence’s exit raises concerns for the Jaguars.

According to the recent updates, Lawrence has been initially diagnosed with a sprained ankle. He is currently “using crutches, and the trainers have provided him with walking boot for his right ankle.” While he can stand on his ankle, he’s being cautious and not putting a lot of pressure on it. An MRI is scheduled for Tuesday to further assess the extent of the injury.
