Head coach Kyle Shanahan of the 49ers recently gave an update on McCaffrey’s injury. He announced that Christian McCaffrey will not participate in the upcoming Week 18 game against the Los Angeles Rams due to a mild calf strain. This is that exact injury that led to McCaffrey’s early exit in the third quarter during the 49ers’ 27-10 triumph over the Commanders.

Dov Kleiman reported this on his X account. He captioned, “𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄: #49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (strained calf) is OUT vs. the #Rams, per team. HC Kyle Shanahan added that they’re “real confident” he’ll be ready to go for the Divisional Round.” Shanahan remains positive about McCaffrey’s recovery, expecting him to be ready for the Divisional Round.
Not to mention, McCaffrey amassed 64 yards on 16 carries and caught four passes for 27 yards without scoring a touchdown in their last game. Fortunately for the 49ers, their first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs will allow McCaffrey approximately three weeks to recuperate. Amidst some rest, the football player still will have his eyes set on achieving a new honor.

Christian McCaffrey has had an extraordinary season as he has elevated himself as a top contender for the NFL Offensive Player of the Year. He’s not only the league’s leader in scrimmage yards with a remarkable total of 2,023, but he’s also the sole player to breach the 2,000-yard mark this year.

His touchdown achievements are equally notable. McCaffrey is tied with Miami Dolphins’ Raheem Mostert for the highest total touchdowns at 21.
