During the Eagles’ tough encounter with the Giants, wide receiver A.J. Brown suffered a right knee injury in the first quarter. Undoubtedly, it ended up casting a shadow over the game. The injury happened after Brown completed a 9-yard reception from quarterback Jalen Hurts and was tackled by Giants cornerback Nick McCloud.

Brown’s immediate reaction to clutch his knee and the subsequent time he spent down on the field definitely indicated the injury’s seriousness. Jesse Morse had posted about it on his X account. He explained that there could be 3 possible injuries including, MCL sprain, MCL+ meniscus, and MCL+ACL. He also mentioned, “Another injury caused by a hip-drop tackle.”

Originally, Brown was deemed questionable to return, and was eventually ruled out in the third quarter. At that time, the Eagles were trailing significantly at 24-0. This decision coincided with the earlier withdrawal of most of the Eagles’ starting offensive lineup which included Hurts. This signaled a strategic shift in response to Brown’s injury.
