The final game of the 2023 regular season was not great for the Miami Dolphins. It appeared as if the Dolphins weren’t well prepared for the battle against the Bills this season. Hence, suffered a defeat of 14-21 to the Bills again after the Week 4 loss. However, this time the team can put some blame on the injuries, especially that of the edge rusher Goode.
After having some significant players out for Week 18, the Phins were trying to dominate the stadium. Alas! The loss and the injuries hindered their progress. During the game at Hard Rock Stadium, Dolphins’ pass rusher Cameron Goode was ruled out of the game because of an injury. Additionally, this might stir up problems for the team as they head into the playoffs, given their recent form.

Initially, what looked like a dominant gameplay from the Dolphins end, thanks to Tyreek Hill’s touchdown, soon turned into a nightmare for the Phins. Cameron Goode was ruled out of the game and the Dolphins suffered a disheartening defeat. Goode plays a crucial role on special teams and also contributes as a backup in the edge position.
He got hurt in the fourth quarter while returning a 96-yard punt from Deonte Hardy. Therefore, injuring his knee. His leg was immobilized, and he had to be taken off the field on a cart, with a huge brace on his left knee. The same was posted on X by Josh Moser who posted, “Not good. Dolphins lose another pass rusher.”
While being carted off, Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa met Goode and shook hands with him. The severity of the injury isn’t known yet, but according to the reports, it seems he will not be able to play at the beginning of the playoffs.

In fact, the Dolphins’ coach Mike McDaniel post the game commented on Goode’s knee injury. Per reports, he said, “doesn’t appear promising.” After Goode’s injury, the Dolphins’ edge rushers scenario seems to have taken a hit as well.
What’s the Dolphins’ edge rushers scenario?
The Dolphins are facing a significant challenge in their edge position as key players like Jaelan Phillips (Achilles) and Bradley Chubb (knee) are already out of the games, till further update. And now in Sunday’s game, edge rushers Andrew Van Ginkel and Cameron Goode got injured. Ginkel suffered a foot injury early in the third quarter and didn’t return to the game.

It is the similar kind of injury that Chubb and Phillips had to face in their season ending injuries. Ginkel walked to the locker room by himself but looked more cautious. And then, in the fourth quarter Goode too faced an injury on his left knee. Now, for the rest of the game, Miami was left with only two healthy edge players: Emmanuel Ogbah and Melvin Ingram.

The team would likely be moving ahead with Ogbah and Ingram for their playoffs. Fans will most likely hoping for a speedy recovery of Ginkel and Goode. Now, as the team has lost to the Bills, they also lost AFC East title, and are stationed at number 6 seed in the AFC division.
