Niners’ second-year QB Brock Purdy fully participated in Wednesday’s practice to prepare for Sunday’s upcoming Week 17 game. Purdy reassured reporters before Thursday’s session that he would be fine and ready to play in the game. However, he gave a worrisome update on his shoulder stinger. The QB said, “No, it’s been good. Just got a lot of treatment done on it and everything. Sort of just working out the soreness within the whole shoulder area trap area, but it feels good. So I’ll be good for this game.”
Having a stinger is common in sports. A stinger usually happens when the head is pushed away from the shoulder, causing the nerves in the neck to stretch. This stretching can cause a stinging or burning sensation along the nerve’s path, extending into the arm.

The incident occurred in the fourth quarter when Ravens defensive end Jadeveon Clowney tackled him for a three-yard sack, causing Purdy to feel the stinging sensation on his shoulder again.
However, Purdy believed he would have returned to that game, but coach Kyle Shanahan advised him to rest for the night. This decision was made because they were behind by 21 points in the fourth quarter at the time of Purdy’s injury.
