Brock Purdy may be a frontrunner in the MVP race, but his salary says otherwise. He was drafted just last year. And it seems the San Francisco 49ers got him on a bargain! He earns a base salary of just $870,000. While we agree that it’s not a small number, it’s peanuts compared to what other QBs are earning. Purdy is actually 85th on the list of QBs by annual salaries.

And fans would have been okay with it if he was a mediocre quarterback. But he’s anything but that. He leads the league in yards per pass attempt, completion percentage, and total QBR. Now, he’s set to earn a little bit more if he wins his next game.

The 49ers will face off against the Packers on Saturday. And a big reward is waiting for him if he comes out of the fray victorious! According to his contract, if he wins the game he will get $174,000. Of course, there’s the added benefit that they will make it to the NFC Championships for the second straight time.

Many fans are upset that the star QB makes so little. But the team’s hands are tied as well. According to the NFL’s rules, once a rookie signs a contract, it can only be changed after the third year. Yeah, that means Purdy will have to until after the 2024 season to negotiate a new contract.

But fans should not be too worried about him. He makes a sizeable amount through performance-based pay.

If he helps the 49ers win the Super Bowl, he will get an additional #1640,00. However, that’s not all. He could possibly earn anywhere between $700,000 to $1 million if he meets certain targets. For example, each community relations that he does could earn him $6,500. Besides, there are also sponsorships to consider. The 24-year-old has endorsement deals with Toyota and Alaska Airlines. Not bad for a player who only shot into the limelight two years ago!

But he’s not doing great either. His teammate, Christian McCaffrey had gifted his offensive teammates expensive goodies for Christmas. When Purdy was prodded about it, he said sheepishly, “Yeah, financially, I wouldn’t be able to cover that right now.” Purdy fans are not eagerly waiting for 2025. That’s when the real money will start flowing in for their idol!
