It’s getting more and more common for the players to do their money dance as soon as they cross that incentive line. The same happened with Chris Jones in the game against the Los Angeles Chargers at the SoFi Stadium. Jones got some money coming to his bank account after he made the latest sack of his career against the Los Angeles team.

A video is circulating on X that shows Chris Jones in his element and celebrating the incentive that he just made. This video was posted by the NFL on CBS and is taking the social media platform by storm. The regular season has come to a nice ending for the DT, while, at one point, it wasn’t even clear whether he would play against the Chargers or not!

The tweet from the NFL on CBS was captioned, “That sack was worth $1.25M for Chris Jones.” Chris Jones’ incentive-laden sack came in the 3 quarter when the Chargers were trailing behind the Chiefs by 4 points. It appeared like the DT wasn’t looking to give Easton Stick a single chance to make any advances and pounced on him the moment he saw the opportunity. The tweet displayed the video of the tackle and the celebrations that followed it from the Chiefs’ side.

The whole team rallied behind the DT as he ran around the field with a child-like poise, diving and jumping around as the commentator uttered, “Pay that man his money.” His teammates were hyped to see him cash on that paycheck and the crowd went haywire after the sack took place. We could even see an excited Travis Kelce getting involved in the celebration, joining the group as he cheered his teammate on.

Chris Jones deserves the bonus considering the kind of season he has had. In the wake of this sack, some details about his contract came to light, laying focus on the money being made by the young football star.

The incentives don’t stop coming in for Jones!

Before the game against the Chargers, Jones had 9.5 sacks under his belt, but after he sacked Easton Stick, the number crossed 10 and he became eligible for a $1.25 million incentive. If he gets 5 more sacks, he will be eligible for another $500,000 for reaching the 15 thresholds. An X account by the name of The GOAT House gives the exact details of his contract.

The football player is standing at a base value of $19.5 million, to which incentives of $6.75 million were added from the various sacks, snaps, and other achievements of the DT.

Before triggering his incentive, Jones had 10 pressures on 25 pass rushes in the first half itself. This is his best since 2018. As of now, Jones has 10.5 sacks, and 20 solo tackles to show for the season. Per sources and common knowledge, Jones had some issues with his contract with the Chiefs and they decided to solve it by keeping the same base salary but increasing the incentives.

It’s safe to say that the DT took full advantage of his contract and remained healthy for most of the season. Things might just get even better for him in the future if he reaches 15 sacks, grabbing benefits for both himself and his team with noteworthy performance.
