Other than the Chiefs, Nick Sirianni‘s Eagles have the biggest reason to be upset about their season. Following a Super Bowl heartbreak in 2023, they were supposed to challenge for the ring this season. Instead, they couldn’t even challenge for the divisional title.
Despite a complete late-season collapse, the Eagles have managed to drag themselves to the playoffs. The Birds will face the Buccaneers in the wild-card round, and one side is guaranteed to pack its back and go home post it. Will Nick Sirianni see the same fate if his team sees the early exit?

The pathetic end to the Eagles’ regular season
There was no reason for the Eagles to break down like they did in the second half of the regular season. For the first time in years, the team went on a 3-game losing streak nearing the end of the season. Rather than an individual problem, their loss looked more like a complete offense-defense breakdown.
QB Jalen Hurts didn’t even try to hide his frustration following the Seahawks‘ loss. “We didn’t execute. I don’t think we’re all committed enough“, he blasted the team without mentioning anyone. But the commitment didn’t come through. They won the next game only to lose against the 3-12 Cardinals following it.
Eagles closed the regular season with a 17-point blowout to the Giants, the team they beat 2 weeks ago. Although, thanks to their playoff berth for all their early works, Sirianni wasn’t fired already. But how long can he last?

The playoffs and Nick Sirianni’s future
The Birds will take on the NFC South champion Buccaneers. On paper, the 1x champions have everything they need to overcome the Bucs, but so did they have against the Giants and Cardinals. Unlike previous times, the Eagles won’t get a second chance to show the commitment and correct their mistakes.

A large part of the fanbase has expressed their distress against the head coach of 3-years, who has taken them to playoffs every single time. But for the overly demanding league and the ambitious franchise, that might not be enough. Anything less than a Super Bowl, and he could potentially face exit even if it sounds unfair.

Sirianni’s future largely depends on the Buccaneers matchup, and he could be the 9th coach that departs in the current season. Hopefully, things won’t come to that.
