It’s almost time for the NFL Draft. In 27 days, we will get the newest entrants into the pro league. Until then, the hype will carry on. In the most important position on the gridiron, the signal caller, Shedeur Sanders, is hot property. He raised eyebrows at the NFL Combine with his style, attitude, and emphasis on changing the culture wherever he goes. Most analysts are projecting the young Colorado QB to go to the NY Giants. But the NFC East franchise has spiced up the competition and reset expectations with recent developments.

Over the past week, the Giants brought in Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. So, they have 2 experienced signal callers who were both starters for their respective franchises in 2024. During his appearance on the March 27 episode of The Rich Eisen Show, NFL insider Tom Pelissero cleared the air about what this means for Shedeur Sanders.

He revealed an NFL GM’s views and said, “I had a GM call me yesterday and brought up without me asking like ‘Why is everybody saying that the Giants now don’t take a quarterback?’ He’s like ‘They’ve set up the perfect room for a guy like Shadeur Sanders to walk into.’” That’s an interesting take.

Let’s look at the deals. Jameis Winston signed a 2-year, $8 million contract. He is likely to be the backup quarterback for the team. The bigger, grander deal came a few days later when Russell Wilson got tired of waiting for the Steelers and came on board. On March 26, Russell Wilson signed a 1-year $10.5 million deal with the Giants. That’s a total of 2 signal callers with a combined 2 decades of experience in the NFL for $14.5 million. It’s a jackpot.

Shedeur Sanders will face tough competition while learning from Mr. Unlimited. Wilson has already made clear his intentions to be the starting choice in 2025. But it is not a wish that will be granted easily. Winston may have suffered at the Browns, but he has explosive talent. Walking into this locker room, Sanders would no doubt be tested with fire. However, that’s how the greatest athletes are forged. With Russ already 36 and Winston unlikely to be a huge favorite for QB1, Shedeur Sanders has the opportunity to be moulded into an NFL-ready talent over the next year or two when he is ready to take over the reins.

However, the franchise would definitely test each one before determining the spot. Also, Pelissero claimed there is a minute chance of the Giants trading down with any other team who might want to grab the QB. It’s a cat-and-mouse situation.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Shedeur Sanders outshine Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to become the Giants' future star QB?

Shedeur Sanders has chosen his destination

In the way he lives and even during the NFL Combine, one feeling was clearly visible. The pride of being from the Sanders clan! It was a way to let the NFL franchises know that the QB listens closely to his father, Deion Sanders. They discuss everything, from the game to the money. But as we move closer to the draft, the duo is going their independent ways.

On the March 27 episode of The Skip Bayless Show, the Colorado HC said, “Shedeur has told me, he’s talked to me intently about all the visits he’s had with all the teams, so I know where his heart is, I know where he wants to go.” That’s interesting. But where will Shedeur Sanders land?

His father refused to name the franchise. He claimed it could be the Giants, Raiders, or Browns. But he did express happiness and excitement over the move, saying his son will definitely change the organization for the better. There is a high chance of the second-generation football star going to the Giants. NFL analyst Matt Miller also predicted this.
