Is 2024 the year Dak Prescott shuts up all his critics once and for all?

The highlight for the Dallas Cowboys in the 2024 off-season has been their contract dramas. Despite becoming the most valued team at $10 billion, owner & GM Jerry Jones has a problem with spending. Even on the key players! Dak Prescott has been a rock for America’s team since 2016. And now, even his future is in jeopardy. Such are Jones’ tactics.

However, NFL executives are expecting a resurgence from the quarterback. One NFL executive named the QB as a strong contender for the 2025 MVP Award. After taking names of Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Aaron Rodgers, the exec said (about Dak Prescott), “I think he’s going to have his ‘f— you’ season, shut everybody up and win an MVP.” Strong opinion there! And a wake-up call to Jones! And the previous season backs the QB.

The signal caller had the best year of his career by leading the league in various metrics, even coming second in NFL MVP voting. In 17 games (last season), he had 410 completed passes with 36 touchdowns and 92 long passes completed. Even in the yards, the QB was a beast with 4,516 passing yards. But the owner is still not convinced.

During an interview, Jones said, “Dak’s situation right now, for me, from my mirror, has more to do with our situation than it does with the merits of Dak Prescott being the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.” Well, as a GM, he has to cover all bases, but the problem is that he never gives clear answers about the financial limitations. The optimistic approach is good. However, at the NFL’s biggest franchise (valuation-wise), no deal gets signed without drama.

Have an interesting take?

The signal caller wants to keep his morale high. Ain’t bothered about the money! When asked about Jones’ comments, Dak Prescott replied, “Stopped, honestly, listening to things he (Jerry Jones) says to the media a long time ago. It doesn’t really hold weight with me.” His approach is right. The deal is most likely to be finalized before the season starts. Even if it doesn’t, the team will have a tougher time finding a quarterback of his caliber than he will have to find a new team.

If the Cowboys give him a deal, it will be in tune with the biggest quarterback deal (money-wise) in the NFL. If they don’t, he will be a free agent and will receive lucrative offers. After all, he has proved himself to be one of the most reliable signal callers on the gridiron. In 8 seasons, he is close to 30,000 passing yards with 67% pass accuracy. The season is not too far.

He is still practicing with the team. And wants to win a Super Bowl. If they win it this year, the Cowboys’ fandom might troll the Jones left, right, and center. Can the QB end the 3 decade drought? Stay connected, as we will bring all updates.
