Congratulations to the two top receivers of the Cincinnati Bengals! After a long wait and uncertainty, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins signed historic and lucrative contract extensions last week. And shortly after that, the duo is showing off the fruits of their labor in Miami in the offseason. But is the decision fine for all parties involved, especially the way it has been done?
We all know that Ja’Marr Chase became the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history. Thanks to his recently signed four-year, $161 million deal. On the other hand, Tee Higgins also inked a massive contract of four years, worth $115 million. And guess what? With this contract extension, Higgins became the highest-paid WR2 in the league. The total value of these record extensions is about $276 million. Isn’t that awesome? Well, this awesomeness was also seen on Miami streets on Sunday, when the two showed off their brand new Lamborghinis.
According to NFL insider Dov Kleiman on X, “Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are racing their new +250K Lamborghini’s all over Miami.” That sounds pretty cool! But it probably isn’t! The awfulness of the news reported by Kleiman is, with this racing, Chase and Higgins are “Potentially putting many civilians’ lives at risk…”

The viral video shared shows Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins cruising the streets, with the engines roaring, as they soak in the thrill. However, the exact speed of their racing cars isn’t easy to tell from the video. Nevertheless, Higgins, who was behind the wheel of his green Lamborghini, couldn’t hide his excitement. During a stop, Higgins expressed, “I’m having so much fun, I’m having the best time of my life.”
So, call it a race or not, the two stars were enjoying their rides. At the end of the clip, Ja’Marr Chase even checked out the spoiler on his $600,000 white Lamborghini Revuelto, a car he proudly showed off on Instagram a couple of days ago. But the question is, as raised by the NFL insider, is it safe what they are doing in Miami this offseason? Fans have mixed reactions to it!
Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are losing their role model status
On the field, last season, Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase dominated. He led the NFL with 127 catches for 1,708 yards and 17 touchdowns. A triple crown. Impressive! Even Tee Higgins stole the spotlight, despite missing five games. He still hauled in 73 catches for 911 yards and 10 scores. No doubt, they are seen as role models by many, especially in Tennessee and Louisiana (their hometowns). But now, due to this outing in Miami, these two are turning heads in a negative way. For instance, one fan took to X and wrote: “How am I supposed to explain this to my daughters? They’re really bad role models (facepalm emoji).” This fan didn’t like what the Bengals receiver duo did on the streets.
It’s not easy to tell whether Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins were actually racing or not. Perhaps because they were invested a lot more in revving than actual racing. But still, if they are speeding, it could create trouble for them. That’s why one fan wrote, “That cop who pulled over cheetah is looking for them as we speak (laughing emoji).” During the start of the season last year, Tyreek Hill was dragged by a policeman out of his sports car, creating a national debate. The cops alleged that the Cheetah was speeding, running his car at about 60 mph (97 kph). However, later, the WR was released and the police officer was reportedly suspended for about 50 days. Hence, this fan shared a reminder of the incident as they sarcastically said those policemen were now searching for these two Bengals receivers.

And yes, how can we forget Henry Ruggs or Darrell Russell’s case? Both of these players’s NFL careers were impacted by some serious mistakes. Ruggs was involved in a fatal DUI crash, while Russell passed away after struggles with substance abuse. Hence, a fan is reminded of these incidents, as they wrote, “Obviously these guys (Higgins and Chase) didn’t do much in college, let alone go to class, so I’m sure they don’t know anything about Henry Ruggs or Darrell Russell…too bad…”
Nevertheless, there were also some fans who supported the players. For instance, on Dov Kleiman’s post, who broke the news by writing “Awful,” a fan wrote: “This is awesome.. not awful.” Another one sarcastically chimed too by stating, “Every time a Dov Kleiman tweet gets posted; many civilian lives are put at risk.” Hmm….this fan seems not to be letting any news by Kleiman harm the image he has for the two.
