Is it possible we’re watching the last few games of the “most successful football coach?” On December 12, the NFL world was shocked when Tom Curran of NBC Sports reported that Robert Kraft, the owner of the New England Patriots, had decided to show the door to Bill Belichick. For a fanbase that had become used to winning games under the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick partnership, not even making it to the playoffs in the last four years has been challenging to digest.
Tom Brady left the Pats and won the Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccanneers while Belichick was on the sinking ship. Now, Kraft is offering him the chance to salvage his career with another team.

Going into the game against the Kansas City Chiefs, who are the reigning Super Bowl Champions, every Patriots fan knew that victory would be next to impossible. However, they still hoped for a miracle. But that was not to be. The Pats recorded their 11th loss of the season. As the game ended, the broadcasters flashed some telling numbers. It seemed like “old-school” Bill, as one commentator called him, was nothing special without Brady.
The graphic showed Bill’s record as head coach, with and without Brady. With Brady, he was 266-75; without him, he was 43-52. And Kraft is not going to put up with it for long. “This is our thirtieth year that I’ve had the privilege of owning this team, and I’ve never been 2-7,” Kraft was reported saying.
However, that was almost midway through the season. With today’s loss, the Pats have worsened to 3-11.

In the first half, Bailey Zappe completed 17 of his 19 passes for 141 yards and even scored a touchdown. But in the second half, in which the Chiefs tend to mess up, Zappe failed. He threw an interception, picked up by Willie Gay, who ran with it to the Patriots’ 7-yard line. Patrick Mahomes then converted it into a TD.
Another factor that worked in the Chiefs’ favor was an unexpected support from running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. He filled in for Isiah Pacheco and finished 101 yards on 17 receptions. His highlight came during the initial part of the second half when he caught a touchdown pass by Mahomes.
